Grougaloragran, a mysterious and ancient entity, appears one with a baby carriage. After defeating a mysterious foe with powers over time, who wants Grougaloragran's life force, or "Wakfu", Grougaloragran comes across Alibert, who is quitting his profession as a bounty hunter after almost taking a innocent man to jail. Grougaloragran leaves the baby carriage with Alibert, believing that he will be a good father to the baby inside. He also leaves a message for the adoptive father, along with a baby Tofu (Bird). 12 years later, Alibert has opened an inn and established a small town. The boy, now called Yugo, believes himself to be a ordinary boy until he discovers that he has the ability to create portals. He puts it to the test when a monster rampages though town, ending up at his Inn. Ruel, who was passing though town, teams up with Yugo and defeats the beast, which turns out to have been a Iop possessed by a demon trapped in an item, in this case a sword known as a Shushu. Alibert, seeing Yugo's power, decides to tell him the truth: that he is adopted and that his real family is out there somewhere.
It is twelve years since the newborn baby Yugo was entrusted to Alibert the bounty hunter. Since then, Yugo and his adopted father run the quiet inn of Bouftou Croustillant in Emelka. But the destiny of Yugo topples over when it discovers that it is able of opening portals of téléportation magicl...
Tristepin, the Iop formerly possessed by the Shushu, wakes up while the village is attacked by polters. He decides to form an alliance with Yugo and Ruel to try to find the source of problem. In the forbidden forest, they make the acquaintance of Amalia and Evangelyne who will join them in the search...
Having crossed the Zap portal, our young heroes decide to go to the closest village to buy supplies. Unfortunately, they soon discover that the village is continuously attacked by a diabolic being called the Black Raven. Our young heroes are going to have to surpass themselves to put an end to this threat...
Our 5 heroes head towards the island of Oma, but Tristepin falls stupidly in a hellish trap: he is prisoner of a bewitched tower and of her inhabitants, a horrible band of seedy princesses. Our heroes cross a village of Flaqueux, fearful and weak creatures are being oppressed by a horde of Taures who are as strong as they are stupid. Unable to let go this injustice, Yugo persuades the friends to teach the Flaqueux to defend themselves...
The magical map of our heroes is definite: the way towards the island of Oma passes by the market town of Katrepat, a gloomy village the inhabitants of which do not know joy and good mood. Once again misled, our heroes arrive at "Chtibrout", a village of bakers where they make the acquaintance of Xav the Baker. This baker is getting ready for the annual tournament of the Best Bread! Unfortunately, the participants do not all believe in "fair play" and Xav was already subjected to some low blows before the competition, Yugo offers to help Xav by becoming his assistant!
On the road for the island of Oma, Yugo and the friends cross a harbinger who warns them that there is a clever thief in the region. This puts Ruel in a state of panic. The rest of the team does not seem to understand why very well...
