A very agile boy of a race called "forest people". he's clothes are made with grass, he wants to get to know various things. his weapons are handmade boomerangs. He sets out on a journey with a circus troupe to look for his father and to investigate the reason of the unusual change happened in the peaceful forest. He has the "Protector's Proof", a mysterious acorn type pendant which his father left him. Protector's Proof emits a light that calls the "Mushiking" which is a mysterious, powerful beetle, to Popo's aid.

Poko is a mysterious young boy who was first seen sleeping inside an old, large cauldron at now-closed Tawara family's Udon place by Souta Tawara. When Poko woke up and saw Souta, he became startled and ran away from him while holding with a bag of flour. However, Poko soon becomes fond of Souta, who kindly makes Udon for the hungry young boy. Now, Poko lives together with Souta at his old family house in Kagawa. Poko actually is a tanuki (raccoon dog).

Popo is a hippopotamus and one of the animals of Oumagadoki Zoo. Popo has tremendous strength as he is described one of the two powerhouses, along with Kisazou. His strength can outmatch that of Gorilla Kong as shown in arm wrestling. (Source: Oumagadoki Zoo Wikia)
