It was mentioned that his car is “definitely a second hand car.” Apparently, he has several deep scars embedded on his back. His human name is often rendered as “Taurys Laurinaitis,” but a more accurate spelling would be “Tolys Laurinaitis” because “Tolys” is an actual Lithuanian name, while “Taurys” is not.

He has dark blonde hair and greenish-blue eyes, which were colored brown in early artwork and were changed to being dark blue in the anime adaptation. One hobby of his is visiting his dear friend Finland and participating in strange Finnish festivals with him, which he seems to enjoy a little too much. The two have known each other for a long time, and are always willing to help the other out. He was once an underling of Russia and was probably the least "tormented" by him out of his brothers. Although the three Baltics eventually broke away from Russia, Estonia was said to be the only one that, in present day, does not rely on Russia too much. His personality is mild, well-mannered, and poised, plus, he is financially secure. He is somewhat self-centered, which results in not very many people giving him much recognition. Estonia is on friendly terms with most of the other countries of the world, and is quite skilled with technology. Over the years, he’s managed to avoid problems and war situations using his mind, wit, and cleverness alone, making Estonia’s beautiful cities and countryside preserved and untouched by other nations. Hidekaz Himaruya once hinted that Estonia's character design is based off of his own appearance, and that, probably due to this, he considers Estonia to be the "coolest" character in Hetalia.

Nation's name: Suomen Tasavalta, Republiken Finland (Republic of Finland) Capital: Helsinki Language: Finnish and Swedish Birthday: December 6 National flower: Lily of the Valley Human name: Tino Väinämöinen Height: 170 cm (5’7”) Age: 20 (appearance) Finland is a cheerful nation in northern Europe who seems to be invincible to cold weather and temperatures. He has pale blonde hair and violet eyes, which were changed to brown in the anime adaptation and are shown as being blue in earlier pieces of artwork. Way back when, Finland ran away with Sweden from Denmark’s house. Finland was deathly afraid of Sweden at first, but eventually came to see that he’s actually kind at heart. The two own a dog together, which Finland named “Hanatamago.” Sweden, who was confirmed as being a homosexual by Hidekaz Himaruya, considers Finland as his “wife,” which Finland insists isn’t true. His personality is simple, and he is known as being gentle, honest, and warm-hearted. He works hard at everything, and can display super-human strength during times of crisis, making him better to have as a friend than as an enemy. Finland seems shy and soft-spoken, but is actually quite the talker. His hobbies include thinking up and holding strange festivals (which Estonia, a good friend of Finland’s, often takes part in), spending time in saunas, thinking up jokes (which he uses to lighten the mood with when around Sweden), and eating the infamously repulsive salmiakki (which he finds to be delicious). Often times, he portrays the role of Santa Claus (Santa is traditionally thought to live in the mountains between Finland and Russia). It was noted that out of the five Nordics, he suffered the most hardships in life.

He has shoulder length blonde hair and green eyes, but in earlier artwork, his eyes were colored blue. He is best friends with Lithuania, whom he calls "Liet" (derived from "Lietuva" which means "Lithuania" in Lithuanian). Back during the Middle Ages, they were partners in conquering Europe. The two are very close, but Lithuania seems to have the short end of the stick in their friendship, constantly being dragged around by Poland. Poland doesn’t care if Lithuania ever hates him because he knows that he’ll always like him no matter what. To this day, there is little border protection between the two, still showing a definite sign of their closeness. Poland’s true personality is hidden behind his air-headed and somewhat spacey appearance. He seems to be really tough, but is actually very shy, especially around strangers, and it takes him a long time to get used to someone. However, he is clingy and quite bothersome once he gets to know you. He usually doesn’t think before he acts, is somewhat selfish, and is forceful with his opinions, but is very cheerful. He is used by other countries often, mainly because of his impulsiveness. Eventually, he was divided up by other countries, but kept “rising” back, similar to a phoenix. From this, we can easily see that Poland is quite a strong country. He's also known for having a pretty awesome national anthem. It is apparent that Poland crossdresses as a hobby, and that he talks in a Nagoya high school girl dialect (which is literally just a “valley girl” accent). Also to note is that Poland was originally designed to be female, a role that was later given to Hungary who was supposed to be a cross-dressing male.
