Tsuyukami was one of the wandering spirits who sought residence in an old shrine. His powers tied to it, human prayer would give him strength. By the time he visits Natsume to regain his name, however, most of the people who prayed to him had already passed on, leaving only one; an elderly lady by the name of Hana. Not long after he regained his name, Hana passes on, and, in turn, so does Tsuyukami. Natsume offers to keep visiting the shrine offering gifts and prayer, but Tsuyukami turns it down, preferring to go with Hana.
Akifumi is a man who was able to see youkai when he was young. One day, he met Hotaru and fell in love with her. They spent their days having fun and playing near the lake. But even after he lost his ability to see youkai, he kept coming to the lake in order to find Hotaru again.
Lord Mibu gathered performers to play in Isozuki's Forest. Asagi is a koto player serving Lord Mibu who contracted a sickness which caused her body to dry up and crumble to dust. Since she could no longer serve Lord Mibu, she left the forest (of her own accord) and "Janome,", her umbrella-holder and bodyguard, carried her with him, in a special gourd. She is able to possess people and this slows down the sickness, so Janome assists her, though somewhat against Asagi's will, in finding a host. Janome/Akagane is trying to get Natsume to cooperate, so that Asagi can play for Lord Mibu in Isozuki's Forest one more time, when the full moon will expose the path to the forest. In reality, Asagi just wants to play for Janome, who loves her and has taken care of her and protected her for so long.
Hishigaki is one of the two youkais that have been chasing Natsume until he found the shrine where Madara was sealed. After discovering the Book of Friends, Natsume returned Hishigaki's name.
Iczer-3 is the heroine of the series. She is the third and final gynoid produced in the Iczer line by the Cthulhu, physically appearing to be ten years old, and is the younger sister of Iczer-1. After Iczer-1 is badly injured in a battle against Neos Gold, Iczer-3 is sent to Earth to defend against Neos' forces in her stead. Iczer-3's battle strength is equal to that of Iczer-1, but she lacks the experience and maturity to use that strength properly at first. This leads to her early battle tactics being rather childish and playful. She forms a close bond with Nagisa Kasumi, and develops a deep love for her.
