Shato is an orphaned boy who, who mistook Mel for the Master Wizard. With both of his parents dead, he was living with a kind women who had taken him and several other orphaned children into her home. When she became ill, he tried to get Mel to help her, but there was nothing Mel could do. She eventually passed away, leaving Shato and the other children homeless. Mel later meets up with Shato and learns that both he and the other children are doing well. Shato has become an apprentice and has been keeping tract of the other children he'd been living with.
Lecto attends the same school as Mel. He's extremely dedicated to his academics and is the Class President of Mel's year. He's initially unhappy with Mel, as he feels she brings the entire year down. One day, however, he discovers Mel sneaking onto the castle grounds and decides to follow her. When he realizes that Mel knows Yue, his hero, his opinion of her eventually changes. He later goes on to work under his idol, Yue.

In an effort to take over Viegald, he uses his magic to get Glenn, Vaith, and Yue all incarcerated. While attempting to kill Seraphia, Mel manages to knock him off a ledge and save Seraphia. Yue then manages to kill him after an exhausting battle.
Yuino is a close friend of Mel's from school. She's often seen hanging out with Mel, Louie, and Lia. Yuino has a sister ten years older than her, who also became a wizard.
Mel is the protagonist of the story who just moved to the magical capital to improve her magic skills. But on her way to the first day of school Vaith kidnaps her and takes her to the royal castle where Sylthfarns most trusted friends ask her to impersonate the master wizard so the country does not panic. Though grudgingly mel accepts the job and the story continues from here....

Not entirely human in appearance, Fern had very few friends growing up. He eventually became assigned to Sylthfarn as a body double (if someone used a harmful spell on Sylthfarn, it would transfer to Fern). Sylthfarn eventually convinced Fern they should be friends, and Fern was deeply hurt when Sylthfarn disappeared with word. Fern tends to be brash, rude, and sarcastic to those he doesn't know, but he is extremely loyal the people he cares about.
Fia Luka is the princess of Caldia. She tends to be somewhat self absorbed and enjoys messing with Seraphia, who she's a few years older than. Both girls frequently argue with each other.
