First seen as a mysterious glowing disk, she is known as the Queen of Arcadia. The queen comes in contact with Harlock's nemesis Mr. Zone long before the pirates ever encounter her. Knowing her only as a voice on the airwaves, Zone does not discover her true, non-corporeal nature until much later, when he realizes her potential as an ally against both Harlock and the Illumidas. She stops aiding him when she begins to suspect that he has lied to her about Harlock's true nature, and allows both Zone and Harlock to approach her homeworld in order to test their motives. She gives to both of them the Fire of St. Aqule, which Zone sees as a means to eradicate the Illumidas Occupation force (and he proceeds to do just that.) Harlock preserves his Fire to use for earth's restoration, and in doing so wins the favor of the Queen, who turns her power on the Illumidas homeworld, destroying it. Lancer of "Black" is the Lancer-class Servant of Darnic Prestone Yggdmillennia of the Black Faction in the Great Holy Grail War of Fate/Apocrypha. Lancer's identity is Vlad III the Lord Impaler (1431-1476) and the greatest hero of Transylvania, whose feats in war caused him to be known fearsomely as the "Impaling Prince" to the Turks. Due to the legends associated with him, another name has been spread across the world, The Little Dragon, better known as the vampire Count Dracula. While the nation was small, he was a hero who ascended to the throne and managed to turn back the numerous invasions of the Ottoman Empire that had trampled over every other country. Though the model for Dracula, he was not a vampire, but a man of devotion and great hero.

The Beast of Darkness (also known as the Hellhound by fans) is a creature which sometimes appears to Guts, taunting him, questioning the morality of his quest for revenge, and urging him to commit ever-greater atrocities, most notably attempting to convince him to rape Casca. While it at first appears to be a demon or evil spirit of some kind, it also appears to Guts inside Godo's cave which evil spirits cannot enter. This would seem to imply that it is either a hallucination or otherwise a part of Guts' mind. The Hellhound might be the embodiment of Guts' own rage and hatred at the God Hand, the Apostles and especially Griffith after the Eclipse. Among other things, it wants Guts to kill Casca so that he can get back to seeking revenge. The fact that in the past (volume 5, chapter 3: Wind of Swords) Casca shouted in anger to Guts that he is just a "mad dog" it is probably the reason why his inner beast is represented as the Hellhound. When Guts uses the Berserker armor, the helmet appears very similar to the Hellhound's head. The Hellhound appears to be strengthened by repeated use of the armor, but is held in check by Guts' affection and loyalty for his companions. These two forces are constantly at odds: in his latest appearance, the Hellhound seemed larger and stronger than ever, but was bound by thick chains. However the Hellhound has vowed should the time come when Guts was too weak to subdue him, the Hellhound would break free and take over Guts and kill all those Guts held dear.
The Golden Lord of Darkness, the Mother of Everything, these are only several of the names used to describe 'her'. Of course, the female designation is arbitrary, the Lord of Nightmares has no gender, in truth, not even a form because she is the Sea of Chaos and the Sea of Chaos is her. It could be said that she is the 'mind' or 'will' of it but that is only trying to pin it down for our limited comprehension. The Lord of Nightmares is an entity much like the Gods and Demons of the various world due to having no real form or gender. Just as they have a human form and a beast form based on what they wish to appear as, she too has two forms. Her human form is that of a frail blonde young woman, however she has possessed Lina's body and even appeared in a copy of her form. Rather than a beast form, the Lord of Nightmares is actually the infinite Sea of Chaos that exists below the the countless parallel worlds which sit atop it on staves. Despite being above the Lord of Nightmares, in actuality a small part of the LON exists in each one, and while she can't use her full power in any of the universes, what she can do is still more than enough to make the Gods and Dark Lords alike fear her as nothing can ever be superior to her. There are only two known spells that call upon the Lord of Nightmares. Ragna Blade which creates a blade of chaos that can cut through anything, and Giga Slave which functions much like Dragon Slave, except it summons the LON itself into the user's body rather than just it's power. If miscast Giga Slave can cause the LON to takeover the caster's body and/or destroy the universe. The LON shares the same goal as the Dark Lords to return all worlds to the Sea of Chaos, however because her nature is chaos she is inconsistent. Rather than destroy the worlds herself she is self contradictory, seemingly waiting for the Dark Lords to do it for her. Or if the opinions of Vorfeed and Darkstar are correct, the God and Demon races simply exist to amuse her with their eternal war for supremacy. LON is also prone to conversing with and beating up the author and Subordinate S (Dark Lord Shabranidgu) with shovels when not being so serious.
