The protagonist/antihero. Ogami Rei is a mysterious young boy about whom not much is known. Sakura first witnesses him burning people with a blue flame in a park; the day later he transfers to her school. Externally, Ogami is an aloof, uncaring person who is whole-heartedly dedicated to punishing evils and cares for not much else, but Sakura gets closer to him she realizes that his actions often belies his cruel words. Ogami's power lies in his left arm, which burns anything he touches with a blue flame. It's later revealed that this blue flame is only a part of a set of seven flames, named after seven demons, which are said to "incinerate the seven deadly sins". In return for these powers, Ogami has to give up something as compensation. So far, the revealed flames are: - Blue flame - Satan - the flame Ogami uses most often. It can incinerates everything Ogami touches. Ogami sacrifices his sense of taste for the use of this flame. - Black flame - Belphegor a.k.a the blaze of limbo - a flame which can burn any special power "tainted with the seven deadly sins". The Code:Emperor takes the power of "Sound" Yuuki partly transfers to Ogami as payment for this flame. When Ogami overexerted his special power, his Lost form results in a severe cold. However, it's later revealed that Ogami's true Lost form is invisibility.

Toki's older sister (however she has no memory of him), in second grade and vice-president of the student council. Like her brother she has heterochromia but hides it by wearing glasses. She has a strange habit of grabbing Sakura's breasts out of nowhere (something her brother tries to do to Sakura as well), cuddling herself against them and falling asleep on them; going so far as to name them (Mii-tan for the right and Hii-tan for the left). Her behavior is childish most of the time. Nenene is, in fact, an Ex-Code:Breaker. In a battle with Re:Code 03 Kouji, she died protecting Toki. The reason she still lives in the present, her lack of memories regarding her past as a Code:Breaker and how she turned into a child is currently unknown. After the Code:Breakers' battle in Shibuya mansion with "The Seeking One", Nenene apparently regained her memories, and was even able to chat with Toki and Heike. According to her, it was due to the Pandora box being opened again. In this state, she's shown to have a more forceful personality.However, she soon passed out afterwards, and again woke up without memories of her past self. In the past, Nenene was the Code:04. She was infamous among the Code:Breakers and Re:Codes for being a cold-blooded killer, always single-mindedly dedicated to her missions, all the while sporting a gentle smile. She was also one of the anti-rare kind Jokers.

The Code:05; she's hailed as one of the most powerful Code:Breakers. At first, Sakura thought she was a man, but she is actually a woman. Rui acts very much like a tomboy but is truthfully immensely shy. She is one of the few to know Shibuya's true identity and often uses this secret to blackmail him. Her addition to the Code of Hammurabi is "and the punishment of death for evil". Rui's ability allows her to manipulate her shadow to defend or to attack by slicing others shadows (the damage done to the shadow becomes real). Her most powerful technique is "Empress Paradox", a shadow monster which envelops her body and can even eats up Rui herself. When Rui loses her power, she becomes a mermaid. She does not get along well with Heike in particular, as in the past she was a Re:Code under the command of "The Seeking One". Her reason for leaving them was because "the thing she needed to protect wasn't there"; this is later revealed as a request from "The Seeking One" to protect Ogami should Eden come after him in the event the Code:Emperor's soul in his left arm awaken. She was closest to Kouji and Yukihina, and once even took a picture together with them. Even though now she refers to "The Seeking One" as a monster, she still has deep respect for him. Further revelations show that Rui belongs to a family of four, all of them (Rui, her parents, and her little brother) being power users. For this reason, her parents were murdered and the incident was covered up as an accident. Rui believed her brother was also dead, until the Code:Emperor showed her that he couldn't summon her brother's soul from hell, which meant he was still alive. Later, it turned out that her brother is the Code:Closer, Saechika.

The head and highly respected man of the yakuza that is said to fight the strong and help the weak and nicknamed "The Raging Dragon of the East". However he is revealed to be a weak ill man who gets nosebleeds when he gets overexcited, but loves his daughter dearly and only wishes for her to be happy and untainted by this world. Yet when he met Rei he could easily see the killer intent in his eyes and warned him that if anything were to happen to his daughter, he would be next.

The current Code: 03. At first glance, he seems pretty calm but goes on a rampage if anyone even brushes him. Oogami described him as the "most barbaric code breaker". He speaks using Kansai-ben. Despite his violent tendencies, he genuinely rewards kindness, and apologizes by giving gifts to people. In chapter 35, he gives Sakura a stuffed animal for her genuine concern for his well-being, and in Chapter 36, he attempts to get a golden toy for Toki as compensation for beating him up, even though he didn't want it. In chapter 36, he admits that he hates Eden, but has joined the organization so that he can take it down. A major love of his is the stuffed animal named Nyanmaru. In recent, he has mistakened Sakura as the true identity of Nyanmaru when her saying reminds him of the animated character. His ability is 'sound' which allows him to listen and identify sounds from distance, travels in the speed of sound and manipulate soundwave to attack. When he temporarily loses his power, he becomes a red-haired cat. Like Heike, he too seems to not prefer the idea of killing, as he went out of his way to save a pregnant woman and a small child from an explosion. His addition to the Code of Hammurabi is "An Eye for an Eye, a Tooth for a Tooth, and the Requiem of Fury for Evil." His Lost Form is a red cat with simple, black eyes, but he keeps his necklace on. It's later revealed that the reason Yuuki works for Eden is for the sake of his childhood friend, Makoto. As a child, Yuuki was ostracized due to his special power, and Makoto and Shigure (another special power user, a future Re:Code) were the only ones to approach him. Once, Yuuki selflessly tried to save others from the rubbles of a collapsed house, and Makoto got severely hurt protecting Yuuki. Since then, he has been in a coma, which caused Shigure to hate Yuuki and vow to kill him to avenge Makoto. In the latest chapters, Makoto is shown to partly regain his consciousness, and is able to send a message in Morse code to Yuuki, telling him to bring his friends the next time he drops by.

An odd guy who is always dressed in a Nyanmaru costume, claiming he is Nyanmaru even though they pointed out to him there is a zipper on his back. He is the only other confirmed "Rare Kind" and has the ability to nullify other powers. He's rather crafty, and takes advantage of the Code:Breakers (namely, Ogami and Toki) quite often when they move into his Shibuya mansion. Although Shibuya's not in possession of any special powers, he's still an extremely able fighter. He trains Ogami Rei and Toki in preparations for the battle against "The Seeking One," and forces them to call him "master." Shibuya's later revealed to be "The Seeking One"'s sword teacher and Sakura's biological father. He wears his costume to prevent Sakura's memory from awakening, and wishes for her live a normal life, a fate usually denied to a Rare Kind. Only Rui knows his secret, and often uses this to threaten him. Like Sakura, when he temporarily loses his Rare Kind's power, he takes a miniature form of himself. In the battle between the Re:Codes and the Code:Breakers, Shibuya remained on a neutral stance, and didn't participate in the fight until "The Seeking One" had retrieved the Pandora box. In the next arc, he temporarily removed his costume and rescued Sakura, Ogami and Haruto from the Code:Breakers.
