While Brock was at Professor Ivy's lab, Ash and Misty land on Tangelo Island and meet this young man, Tracey. He is a Pokemon Watcher and is also a very big fan of Professor Oak. Knowing that Ash and Misty are close to Professor Oak, Tracey decides to tag along with Ash as the crew travels the Orange Islands. Only after the Orange Islands adventure, Tracey decided to stay in Pallet Town and be Professor Oak's assistant.

The owner of the Banana Slakoth Garden, Marcel was in the middle of a big problem when Ash and his friends showed up. The Garden had been closed due to a Snorlax eating all of the bananas in the park. To make matters worse, whenever any Pokémon tried to battle with the Snorlax, it would use Yawn and make them fall asleep. Marcel was just about to give up when Brock suggested that he capture a Slakoth from the Garden and evolve it into a Vigoroth. His reasoning was because of Vigoroth's Vital Spirit ability. This would prevent it from falling asleep. Taking his advice, Marcel captured a Slakoth, and, after battling Ash's Pikachu, Torkoal and Grovyle, it evolved. Using the Wild Monkey Pokémon, Marcel battled the Snorlax and successfully captured it. After opening the park, Marcel revealed that Snorlax had given him an idea. One of the rooms was designed for visitors to sleep if they were feeling tired, and Marcel's newly captured Snorlax helped them fall asleep using Yawn. Ash and the others bid farewell to Marcel and continued to Lilycove City.

He is a Pokémon Trainer from Kanto training to become a Pokémon Referee. Jimmy was a poor Trainer, and often felt he had bad luck. Quite by accident, he came upon an island where Trainers were learning about refereeing. As a referee, he is shown to be quite indecisive. After defeating Team Rocket who had attempted to steal his Pokémon, he decides to revert to his original goal of becoming a Trainer, and return to Lilycove City.

Sabrina is the Gym Leader of the Saffron City Gym in the anime pokemon. In the anime, Sabrina was the fourth gym leader Ash encountered. Sabrina inherited her psychic power from her father, who had the ability to teleport from location to location. It manifested when she was young, and it was soon apparent that Sabrina's abilities far exceeded her father's. She was able to use psionics to do many things- teleportation, telepathy, psychokinesis, and transmutation. As her power increased, she grew more obsessed with developing it. She became less and less emotional, using her abilities for destructive purposes. This caused a deep psychological rift. The emotions she tried to shut off developed into a separate personality- a young girl who manifested as a puppet around Sabrina. Sabrina's mind was divided into the cold, callous woman with a thirst for power and the little girl who just wanted to have fun. Sabrina became the leader of the Saffron Gym, and turned it into an institute where fellow psychics could develop their powers. Of all the Kanto gym leaders, Sabrina was the most fearsome because of her ability to turn humans into dolls. But after Haunter made Sabrina laugh, Sabrina turned back to a normal girl. Sabrina's specialty of Pokemon is Psychic Types, like Kadabra.
