A mysterious and fairly unemotional woman, Nakiami makes her first entrance when she jumps in and subdues the enraged Xam'd, turning him to stone and demanding that he come with her and live, or die. Akiyuki accepts, and she knocks him and Haru out with a few small movements. She then takes Akiyuki back to the ship with her, and starts operating on Akiyuki and working with his condition. Nakiami is a fairly serious and skilled person, who bears similar face marks to other mysterious characters related to the Xam'd and seems to have a lot of knowledge and expertise about it. She is a member of Benikawa's crew and flies a small jet-like vehicle. It has been noted that her character design and vehicle both share large resemblances to Nausicaa, and it may have been an inspiration for her character.
Yango is an orphan in a pretty big town. He doesn't have a home or any money, but after meeting Nakiami in that town, he becomes friends with her and decides to follow her on her trip. He also got a Xam'd on his arm.
The white-haired girl that caused the bus incident.
Haru is a fellow high school student and a friend of Akiyuki's, and fairly skilled in martial arts. She is the first to encounter Xam'd on the destroyed bus, and after noticing that Xam'd is not an enemy, attacks the guard who tries to shoot him. She then follows Xam'd after he is attacked by a newly arrived Human form enemy, and screams at him to stop fighting, subconsciously calling him Akiyuki and realizing who Xam'd's identity is. However, it does little to stop him and she is eventually pulled in to the battle by Xam'd, who protects her whilst battling and eventually defeating the human form. When Nakiami arrives to subdue the enraged Xam'd, Nakiami asks Haru several questions about Akiyuki and Xam'd, and renders Haru unconscious before she can ask any questions. Nakiami then takes Akiyuki away, leaving Haru to wonder what happened. She later confesses her feelings that she loves Akiyuki to Furuichi.
