He is a student of Class 3-A in Fumizuki Academy. He is good friends with his classmate Shunpei, and they were called the "Tokonatsu duo" (by combining the first kanji of their surname). He has appeared in the OVA (Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu: Matsuri) of the series, where he and Shunpei went to the Chinese cafe of Class 2-F and ate the sesame dumpling Himeji made. After complaining about the business, he was kick by Yuuji and spread some false rumors regarding the Class F's business. In the tournament, they faced Akihisa and Yuuji and he was teamed up with Shunpei. Although the Tokonatsu duo got the upper hand, they were defeated by the combined efforts of the Akihisa and Yuuji. His shokanjuu is clad in a red, heavy armor and wields a spiked ring. He later appears in the second season with Shunpei.
Ritsuko Iwashita is a student in Class 2-B in Fumizuki Academy and is good friends with Mayumi Kikuiri. In Volume 1 it seems she is strong at math, but was still quickly defeated by Mizuki Himeji. In Volume 2 and the Matsuri OVA, she and Mayumi fight Akihisa Yoshii and Yuuji Sakamoto because of technical difficulties during the Summoned Being Tournament, but even with a 116-point lead on Akihisa, she loses due to his Shoukanjuu's agility and his teamwork with Yuuji. Her Summoned Being differs the most amongst the series' media. In the manga adaptation, it wears a black ninja uniform and wields a katana. In the anime adaptation, it wears Western-style armor and wields a sword. In Episode 2 of the Matsuri OVA, it has bunny ears, wears normal girls' clothing, and wields a giant hammer. Toa is a mysterious girl who saves Jin from a dragon in the first episode. She is shown to have remarkable athletic abilities, extraordinary strength, and accelerated healing capabilities, possibly due in part to the fact that she is a dragon. In her dragon form, she is immensely powerful; she is able to take on more than two other dragons at a time. She is referred to as the "Album" by the ISDA, who wishes to capture her in order to retrieve information on the original dragons from Thanatos. She calls Thanatos 'mother', and her mission on Earth is revealed to be the retrieval of the dragon eggs possessed by the ISDA. She later admits to being the one that collided with the shuttle that killed Jin's family. She got the name "Toa" after retrieving half of a bracelet that belonged to Jin's sister, Ai. Before the accident, the bracelet had "To Ai" engraved on it, but now it only reads "To A." In the manga, she is part of the Dragonauts and is partnered with Jin. Though she possesses all the abilities as her anime counterpart, she is shown to be very klutzy, which often infuriates Jin.
