Elfman is an 18 year-old mage. He is one of the physically stronger Fairy Tail mages, exhibiting the ability called "Take Over," which allows him to absorb the power of monsters he defeated into his right arm, earning him the nickname "Beast Arm Elfman." His member stamp is on his neck. His skill is among the top level in Fairy Tail; however, due to past events, he is no longer able to use Take Over to transform his entire body. It is revealed that in the past, an error occurred with his full-body transformation, leading him to lose control over his actions. Lisana, his younger sister and former member of Fairy Tail, sacrificed her life to break his concentration and help Elfman regain sanity. As a result, his most recent attempts at full-body Take Over induces a flashback of his sister, breaking his concentration and causing the spell to fade. This event has also caused Elfman's heart to lock shut. During the attack on Fairy Guild by Phantom Lord, Mirajane is taken hostage while pretending to be Lucy. Elfman, determined to overcome this setback and keep his vow to "never see his sister's tears" helped him regain the ability of full-body Take Over, helping him defeat Sol, a member of the Elemental 4. It seems both he and his sister Mirajane were badly hurt in the past due to their younger sister, Lisana, dying. It's said that Elfman's heart is locked shut because of what happened to Lisana. Ayaka Nikaido is the scheming president of the Second Newspaper Club. She considers the Student Council president, Kaori Shirakawa, her nemesis. She tries to expose Kaori's corruption with the help of her club members but this merely results in her getting on Kaori's bad side and repeatedly getting her club into trouble. It is Ayaka who pushes Yuuki Akamatsu into joining the Second Newspaper Club as a way of improving his social situation.
Ritsuko Iwashita is a student in Class 2-B in Fumizuki Academy and is good friends with Mayumi Kikuiri. In Volume 1 it seems she is strong at math, but was still quickly defeated by Mizuki Himeji. In Volume 2 and the Matsuri OVA, she and Mayumi fight Akihisa Yoshii and Yuuji Sakamoto because of technical difficulties during the Summoned Being Tournament, but even with a 116-point lead on Akihisa, she loses due to his Shoukanjuu's agility and his teamwork with Yuuji. Her Summoned Being differs the most amongst the series' media. In the manga adaptation, it wears a black ninja uniform and wields a katana. In the anime adaptation, it wears Western-style armor and wields a sword. In Episode 2 of the Matsuri OVA, it has bunny ears, wears normal girls' clothing, and wields a giant hammer. Anju is Karin's younger sister and she absolutely loves her, close to the point of obsession. She will do anything for Karin. She has not quite awakened as a vampire, causing her to be somewhat sensitive to the sun, and resulting in her only attending school on overcast days. However, she does have an amazing control over bats despite this. Anju is very reserved, speaking in a quiet manner and wears a Gothic Lolita attire. Boogie-kun is her companion, whom she carries around and is her favorite of her dolls, something she enjoys collecting. In the anime, Anju's blood preference is jealousy when she awakens. In the manga, it's loneliness.
Typically has a disdain for monsters because her brother's girlfriend is one. Her family has a Borzoi named Torabolt.
