He is Kenshin and Kaoru's son who appears at the end of volume 28. He likes to climb things but cries whenever he can't get down. He loves his mother but doesn't like his father. (He likes to pull Kenshin's hair) In Samurai X: Reflections, he is still a toddler, but some scenes skip to the when he is fifteen years old and trains with Hiko. In the OVA time line, Kenji grows up without Kenshin's presence. He watches as his mother mourns his father's continued absence. Kenji grows to resent his father's selfishness and his mother's continued depressions. At age 15, he runs away to Kyoto to train under Hiko Seijuro XIII in the art of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu. Kenji displays a lot of promise as a student, just as his father had 30 years before, but Hiko decides to honor Kenshin by not passing the school on to Kenji. Hiko basically keeps Kenji busy until Myoujin Yahiko shows up to take him home. Kenji refuses to leave, saying that he wants to experience true strength and surpass his father's legend. Yahiko and Kenji duel. Kenji shows his promise and his genius, but Yahiko uses his beliefs and experience to conquer the teen. After Kenji is subdued, Yahiko passes on the Sakabatou to him. Kenji then returns to Tokyo with Yahiko to be with his dying mother. At the end of the OVA, we see Kenji with a girl named Raikoji Chizuru. Kenji now wields the Sakabatou and seems to be at peace with his father.

One of the Uesugi Yashashu, Takaya's force. Used to be Kenshin's subject/minister once. Currently, a young guy with refined looks and long hair. He is a rather vivacious, easy-going fighter, caring but powerful, and second only to Takaya in his power, particularly in controlling minds. In fact, he is rather independent in his actions and thinking, and once defected from the group doubting the worth of their fights. He now fights with the group for his own reasons and bears complex and ambivalent emotions towards Takaya and Naoe.

Tachibana Yoshiaki, usually called by his old name Naoe, comes into Takaya's life as a mysterious rescuer, and soon becomes his close helper in carrying on the lonely and hard-fought 400 year old battle to exorcise warring ghosts. He protects Takaya, trying to make him again into a powerful proud leader. However, he seems to have many dark secrets and a lot of guilt from their previous lives together which Takaya does not remember. In this life, Naoe was born into a Buddhist monk's family, and is now a tall, well-groomed handsome man in his late 20s. On the surface, Naoe is calm, reserved and competent, albeit too secretive, and a reliable right hand man to Takaya (Kagetora). In a few volumes, however, we discover his true nature, his boundless passion and obsession with Takaya (Kagetora), and his strong attraction to and burning envy of Takaya's superiority. The intense painful love- hate relationship between the two protagonists is a driving force of the whole series. Naoe loves Takaya and devotes himself entirely to him but he resents Takaya's superior strength, power, and independence in the relationship. Naoe cares for Takaya, calms him when needed, and would die for him, but also nurses a devouring desire for and resentment towards him. It is suggested that Naoe did something brutal and unforgivable 30 years ago to Kagetora's then (female) lover Minako, and the tragedy caused Takaya's loss of memory in this lifetime.

Alford is a skilled swordsman who crossed paths with Yuri in the early seasons of Kyo Kara Maoh. Alford has long, brown hair, parted down the middle, with his bangs cut short and the rest reaching past his shoulders. He wears a blue undershirt which matches his eyes, and a red vest with a white trim. Alford was mislead for years to believe that Demons were evil, and he trained extensively in order to destroy them. However, after meeting Yuri, he realizes that he was wrong and even managed to befriend them. Alford is confronted by Velma who convinces him to join her on their quest to slay a dragon. He agrees, and when he meets Yuri and Conrad in the forest, they cross swords. Conrad is revealed to have known Alford's father and it manages to break his ideals.
