Fashionable, violent, confident, occasional smoker, and not at all attracted by the sexual charms of anime characters, Saki is not an otaku in any sense of the word. She follows Kousaka into Genshiken, and is eventually blackmailed by the first Genshiken chairman into joining the club. Surprisingly, Saki actually saves Genshiken from being shut down on two separate occasions, though her motives have more to do with revenge and guilt than becoming more of an otaku. Despite being vehemently against otaku activities such as wearing nekomimi (cat-ears) at the start of the series, Saki eventually becomes comfortable with the other club members to the point that she can be considered their close friend (aside from the possible exception of Kuchiki). Saki has a tendency to use nicknames. She calls Sasahara "Sasayan", Kugayama "Kugapii", and Ogiue "Ogichin" by nicknames, and even though she at first refuses to call Kuchiki by his self-appointed nickname ("Kucchi"), Saki starts using that nickname as well. In the spin-off series Spotted Flower (unknown if confirmed as canon), she is no longer in relationship with Kousaka. She is now married to Madarame and is pregnant with his child. In spite of this, it is assumed that everyone is still friends and stay in contact with each other. Prince Hata is a squat-like, purple alien prince who is fond of animals. His fondness is not reciprocated, and one of his "pets" had even bitten his antenna off (it grew back later). He has an eccentric habit of collecting rare pets, but as he is incompetent in managing them, they often cause havoc in Edo. The Prince is often known as "Baka ÅŒji" (Stupid Prince) due to his simple-mindedness and lack of responsibility with his animal collection. He is a recurring character in the series. Like her name, she is the thirteenth daughter or princess of the Ran clan. She is the half-sister of Shuuei, Ryuuren, and the Ran triplets, but she has the closest relationship with Shuuei. She was sent to the palace to become Ryuuki's consort by the triplets (with the choice to either become a consort or marry Seiran), and she soon became a target of assassination by a mysterious group. The head assassin was none other tha Jin Shiba, her first love, who was a death-row prisoner. After Shusui's departure, Jyuusan-hime replaced her position as head lady-in-waiting and later on challenged Shuurei in a contest of making steamed buns. She has all the skills of both being a princess and a fighter, being raised by the Shiba family, a famous retainer clan of the Ran clan who specialized in combat. By looks, she resembles Shūrei so much that Shūrei was once given the task to impersonate her. She is the most likely candidate to be Ryuuki's concubine, should Shuurei continue to show disinterest in the time period that was given
