Manifested spirit of Jūshir� Ukitake's Zanpakut� that is seen during the Zanpakut� Unknown Tales arc. In their first appearance, both boys are seen laughing and playing, reflecting their child-like appearance. They seem to frequently join hands, reminiscent of how they appear in their released Zanpakut� form, in which they are bound together by a red rope. As they have not yet shown any resentment or dislike of their former master; their reasons for leaving Ukitake are currently unknown. After being restored to normal, S�gyo no Kotowari, while still as playful as ever, is shown to be more behaved as they actually listen to Ukitake. Their relation to Ukitake becomes like younger brother/son as shown from their constant tackling for attention on him

The greatest Onmyouji in in the history of Japan, Abe no Seimei is the grandfather of Masahiro. He has Twelve shikigami under his command and is able to transfer his soul (which is in his younger form) outside of his old aged body, but this makes his body vulnerable. He teases Masahiro to push him further in his journey (which is kind of like a reverse psychology) and helps him out when he is in trouble.
