Iou is a ninja tool inventor from Konoha and Shoseki helps him make these tools. Most of his tool creations are shown either be impossible to carry or serves no purpose at all. It is assumed he was relocated to the outskirts of the village due to the random explosions which he claims are "challenges" during his inventing. Team Guy (minus Might Guy and Naruto Uzumaki replacing Rock Lee) go to the Konoha Research Lab to retrieve more tools for the village. When checking up on their progress, they see that Iou and his assistant went down the research lab to work on Iou's newest weapon. Suddenly two ninja, Gameru and Kusune arrive to the research lab and demand new weapons from Iou. They both possessed two of his prototype weapons that Shoseki sold to them. Iou gave Tenten his newest weapon, Jidanda, which she used to defeat both the ninja. Iou took Jidanda back from Tenten after the ninja were defeated, saying more work needed to be done on the weapon. Kusune is a ninja who possesses Iou's ninja tool, Tsuru-Kame. Him along with Gameru asked for ninja tools from Iou but he refused to give his ninja tools to outsiders. Naruto Uzumaki and Neji Hyūga fought Kusune and Gameru but were stalemated by Iou's prototype ninja tools. Kusune and Gameru were defeated by Tenten when she used Iou's latest ninja tool, Jidanda. Yuusuke (ユウスケ, Yūsuke) is a fisherman in the Land of Fire. When he was a child, he and his father tried to catch a giant summoned marlin, they failed, resulting in his father's death. Yuusuke became determined to avenge his father by catching the marlin. Trivia: Yuusuke's appearance was modeled after his seiyuu, singer Yuusuke Kamiji. He also performed Otakebi, the movie theme of Naruto Shippūden 5: Blood Prison, which premiered a week before Yuusuke's debut in the anime. (source: naruto.wikia.com)

Former leader of the Nadeshiko Village. Decades ago she encountered Jiraiya who has entered her village to do "research" for his next novel. After he escaped she pursued him and challenged him to a duel for his hand in marriage. This match was however postponed, as neither party was making headway against the other. Jiraiya promised that their students instead should one day seek each other out and fight if the two never met again. This promise fell to her pupil Shizuka and Jiraiya's last pupil Naruto Uzumaki. She's presumed to be Shizuka's mother but is not confirmed neither named as such in the credits, instead she's named as "Previous Head of the village (先代里長)". Appears in episode 235.
