Matsushita's fellow classmate, and constant companion, he is like Matsushita in that he is always targeted by the school bullies and hooligans. However unlike Matsushita he is far more quick tempered and less willing to take the beatings lying down. Later in the series an old junior high classmate of his named Yamane Junji reveals to him that he's joined the Yakuza, and forcibly steals the Karate Club's money from him.

Arai went to the same middle school as Haruhi. He is bright but shy, rather normal, and is on the soccer team. He used to have a crush on Haruhi. He even confessed to her and asked her out, but she mistook his words for something else. He took the fact that she didn't recognize what he was saying as a sign of rejection. He has since gotten over her (sort of), but he is glad to see and talk to her again. He works at Arai Grocery (his uncle's shop) in Karuizawa as a summer job. He is rather forgiving, since he doesn't let Hikaru's rude behavior phase him.

The President of the Zuka Club. Benio is nicknamed "Benibara-sama" at St. Lobelia's and is the most popular of the Zuka Club's ruling council. Benio is also known as "The Lady of the Red Rose." A "Benibara-sama's guardian club" has been founded at St. Lobelia's just to make sure she doesn't get mobbed when walking down the aisles. There is also a fanclub devoted to her. Benio doesn't exactly help matters; she flirts with girls with the same ease as Tamaki. On one occasion, Benio claimed that she was following in the footsteps of her mother, who was supposedly also president of the Zuka Club in her day. This may have been nothing more than a lie meant to sucker Haruhi into helping the Zuka Club out with a play Note: Zuka can mean yuri.

Head of the newspaper club. His father is the head of a publishing company; however, his club's papers are unpopular because of its lack of substantiated contents.

The Vice President of the Zuka Club, also known as "The Lady of the Lily." Chizuru is outwardly the most placid member of the ruling council, but this counts for nothing; she never objects to any of the Club's plans, but rather assists and makes things worse.
