Hato is a first year male student and the last to join during Ogiue's first membership drive. Although his sexuality is unknown, Hato shares the fujoshi love of yaoi and boy's love manga and doujinshi, making him a "fudanshi." Because of this, Hato decided to adopt a female persona, complete with a near perfect female voice, and only attends Genshiken meetings as a girl, though he attends classes as a guy. Even after the members of Genshiken learn his secret, Hato continues to cross-dress for the meetings, leading Genshiken to draft former member Madarame into letting Hato change at his apartment. As a girl, Hato looks and sounds the part so well, guys on campus begin trying to learn more about this "mysterious beauty" who only shows up after classes are over for the day. An infamous mobster and leader of the Dragon King Organization stationed in Hong Kong, Hak Lung appeared in Japan, where he was hurt and later helped by the schoolgirl Kurumi Akino returning home from her part time job, threatening to rape her if she did not help him. Despite his mature appearance and personality, he is actually only eighteen years old and attends a school in Hong Kong created by him and his organization. He is a notorious playboy, having slept with countless women, and is rumored to “dispose of” his mistresses when he has rendered them useless for his own personal or political gain. Due to his tragic childhood involving royal lineage disputes and the death of his mother, he was raised by a strict man who influenced him to take part in the mafia. It was from this man that he received his new name; “Hak Lung,” meaning “black dragon” in Cantonese. After Hak Lung was saved by Kurumi Akino, he ordered his men to capture her and bring her to Hong Kong, for he had truly fallen in love with her. He began to change afterwards, and although retaining his strict, brutal, and cold mafia persona while on the job, he acted gentle and kind towards Kurumi, going so far as to call her his “airen,” meaning “lover” on a closer, more intimate scale. He made an appearance in one of Mayu Shinjou’s other works, “Love Celeb.” He was hired by Gin’s father to kidnap and treat Kirara in Hong Kong. After his fiancée, the beautiful Lai Lan, tries taking away Kurumi’s virginity to get back at Hak Lung for not loving her, he kills Lai Lan in front of Kurumi, causing Kurumi to hate him for killing her one true best friend. This was all a façade on Lai Lan’s part, and contributed to her master plan of getting Kurumi to hate Hak Lung. Once Kurumi becomes afraid of him, thinking that he would kill her as well, he decides to use drastic measures to keep her by his side. He rapes her repeatedly, causing Kurumi’s body to need him to survive. From that point on, he treated Kurumi like a slave and appliance, and showed no love towards her, going so far as to hand her over to Fung Lung, even though he loved her dearly on the inside. After Kurumi loses all of her memories of him and the rest of the Dragon King Organization, he decides to start over with their relationship, and even goes so far as to leave the mafia, being branded as a traitor and unable to live a truly normal life. He eventually rejoins the mafia, and goes on to propose to Kurumi. On his way to meet Kurumi in the church that they were to be married in, he is assassinated by Ka Fai, a young boy who vowed to take Kurumi away from him, leaving Kurumi all alone in the end.
