The "Koto" in Kotomi is derived from the Japanese musical stringed instrument of the same name. She is in the top ten for every subject throughout the whole country in standardized exam results—she always goes to library to read extra materials, especially books in foreign languages. Kotomi is a very quiet girl and it is quite difficult to communicate with her. In her spare time, she plays the violin, although she is very poor at it to the point of causing pain to those who hear her play. Tomoya meets her for the first time when he enters the library and found Kotomi sitting on the floor barefoot, reading books with scissors in her hand, and acts oddly with Tomoya. After several meetings with Kotomi, Tomoya starts skipping the fourth period and spend time with Kotomi in the library. Tomoya decides to force Kotomi to join the drama club to make her more sociable. Just when Kotomi starts to open up to everyone, a bus accident causes her to breakdown in front of everyone and returns home later. Tomoya visits her in her house and learns that he and Kotomi were childhood friends, but lost contact with each other after Kotomi's parents died in an plane-accident. Not wanting to feel the pain of losing someone important anymore, and asks Tomoya to leave her alone. Wanting to bring Kotomi away from her past, Tomoya decides to renovate her garden, while the drama club members decide to gift her a violin, but was unfortunately destroyed. After renovating Kotomi's garden, Kotomi appears to Tomoya, and after some poignant conversation, Tomoya brings Kotomi out of her house to see the outside world inside her heart. The next day, her guardian presents Kotomi her parent's briefcase that has traveled all the way to Japan, and inside is a teddy bear and a testimony, asking Kotomi to live the way she wants and grow up to be an adult. Kotomi realizes she is still being loved by her parents even after their death and cries. After this, Kotomi becomes more mature, and the drama club members finally give Kotomi a violin. In ~After Story~ In the anime adaptation Clannad After Story, Kotomi moves to America to further her studies. She, however, occasionally visits Tomoya and the others, and in the movie adaptation, Kotomi only made a cameo appearance, as she is only seen conducting a song for the members of the Choir Club.
Sailor Iron Mouse is the first of the Sailor Animamates to appear. Her human pseudonym in the anime is Chuuko Nezu, which is a pun. In Japanese, Chuuko and Nezu are each perfectly acceptable names; however, "chuu" is the sound made by mice, and nezu can also mean "mouse." True to her name of mouse, Iron Mouse is very short, at least a foot shorter than her targets (Takeuchi's notes in the manga state that she is Chibiusa's height, but she is not quite that short in the anime). She is also afraid of cats. Iron Mouse has a very short life in the manga, only a few pages long. She appears in Act 43, in the Fantastic Music Hall during the joint concert between the Three Lights and Michiru Kaioh. She attacks with "Galactica Crunch" and is killed by Sailor Star Healer. It is later revealed that Sailor Iron Mouse killed the Senshi of her home planet, Sailor Chuu. In the anime, Iron Mouse's personality is both childlike and intense; she usually chooses famous or impressive people as her victims, seems to enjoy her work, and is openly terrified of Galaxia. She can warp from place to place using a phone booth that she summons and she can also use it to block attacks. Sailor Iron Mouse is the antagonist for several episodes of the anime, but in episode 181 is killed by Galaxia as punishment for her failure to collect starseeds, even though she had discovered the identity of Sailor Star Fighter.

Uryuu Ishida is a dark blue-haired, bespectacled teenager of average height. At school, Uryuu wears the school uniform along with a tie, while outside he dons white Quincy clothes with blue stripes representing the Quincy cross, and a mantle. Uryuu is generally shy and quiet, but tries harder to act cool when other people are around. For example, during the Soul Society arc he wears a mantle that serves no purpose other than to make him look cooler, despite the fact that it hinders his movement. He even keeps a spare to that effect. In addition, he also has a tendency to say things with characteristic drama. Uryuu operates on a moral ethic known as the "Pride of the Quincy" and has a strong sense of justice. He has also shown to be very chivalrous, stating that he enacts justice on men who abuse or treat women badly. He demonstrates this at multiple points throughout the series, such as when he tried to defend Rukia Kuchiki from Renji Abarai when he and Byakuya Kuchiki came to the real world to take her, or when he defends Orihime Inoue at multiple points throughout the Soul Society arc. Uryuu also has a tendency to not use lethal force in battle, especially if he can win without doing so. Instead, he will simply incapacitate his opponent. Uryuu does not hold his father, Ryuuken Ishida, in high respect; he calls his father by his given name which is considered very rude in Japanese society. Despite this, in the anime Uryuu seems mildly offended when Rukia commented that the Ishida's hospital (his father being the present director) is falling apart and Renji replies tactlessly that the hospital is only for show. Uryuu has low blood pressure and hates procrastination. The other things he hates are quite odd: buttons (despite being an expert in sewing) and the word "haphazard." His favorite food is homemade mackerel miso stew. The television program he likes is Don Kanonji's "Bura-Rei." The shadow that jumped out of the crowd at Kanonji's first appearance was in fact Uryuu. Like his grandfather, S�ken Ishida, Uryuu is left-handed. 17 months after Aizen's defeat Uryuu joins Vandenreich under Yhwach's command.

Akio is Nagisa's father. Although he often talks and plays rough, he is kind and sympathetic. His childish side makes it easy for people to befriend him. He runs the Furukawa Bakery with his wife Sanae. In his spare time, Akio plays baseball with children in the small park next to the bakery, and indulges in the Gundam fandom. He is often the victim of Sanae's bread, having to eat her bread in front of her while claiming that he loves it. During the School Life arc, Akio reveals that he was an actor in a theatrical company, but has to quit his job due to Nagisa's health. Akio replaces Youhei's role as the comic relief during the After Story arc, however, he can be serious when needed, as he often gives advice to Tomoya on what it is like to become a man. He tells the story about how Nagisa almost died due to their unintended negligence, and how her life is connected to the city after getting saved from her fever.
