Though she is in her senior year, Nagisa is one year older than her classmates; she had to repeat her third year again after an illness that lasted nine months. Nagisa meets Tomoya on the first day of this year. Nagisa is very timid, and has a habit of saying the names of food that she wants to eat as a way of motivating herself. She wants to reestablish the suspended Theater Club, but does not have enough self-confidence to do so. In ~After Story~ Nagisa begins dating Tomoya, and the couple are married soon afterwards. Nagisa becomes pregnant with Ushio - unfortunately, due to her weak body, she passes away shortly after childbirth. In the true ending of ~After Story~, Nagisa survives, and lives together with Tomoya and Ushio.
Karen is the oldest member of the team. This third-year student comes from an affluent family and is a member of the student council. Her parents are musicians and often go on tour. She misses them, but will not ask for them to come home for fear of disturbing their work, so despite wealth and popularity, she is often lonely. Komachi is her best friend and a fellow student council member. Seen around school as cool and inspiring, most of the students look up to her. She, as Nozomi learns, is the most trustworthy Cure. In the beginning, she is reluctant to join the Cure team. In episode 6, as the girls are being manhandled, Karen stands up to her friends, vowing to protect them regardless of transformation. The butterfly that eluded her previously reappears and successfully lands on her wrist, enabling her to transform to Cure Aqua. For catching Pinkies, Coco gets a violin from her Pinky Catch. As Cure Aqua; counterpart of Cure Mint, she wears deep blue in her outfit, resembling Cure Mint's outfit. She introduces herself as "Blue Spring of Intelligence, Cure Aqua!" (知性ã®é’ã泉 ã‚ュアアクア!, Chisei no aoki izumi, Kyua Akua!) Like Nozomi and Komachi with Coco and Nuts respectively, she has a special bond with Milk. In the first movie, her counterpart is Dark Aqua, who is voiced by Reiko Kiuchi.
Mina represents Fukurokuju. The two are twins and the youngest members of the club, as the only elementary students. They have a tendancy to fall over and go to sleep if they expend even the smallest amount of energy, which they seem to lack, except when they transform in which case they are full of energy. Because they represent the two gods Fukurokuju and Juroujin (who are the gods of luck and fortune) they are almost the same person. Details about the twin's relationship are in episode 6.
She represents Hoteisama. She is a doctor.
Kappei is the only character in the visual novel who does not appear in the animated versions of Clannad. Is a mysterious nineteen-year-old young man who is travelling around.
