Ren is a new student at the high school Miaka and Yui attend. He is a freshman and the same age as them, and is extremely popular at school. He runs for school president against Yui, and becomes the leader of a group of students who threaten Miaka and Taka. Ren has the ability to control people's minds, detesting and taking advantage of weak people who allow him to manipulate them. He dislikes and is jealous of the miracle that allowed Miaka and Taka to be together. While not completely confident in himself, he is able to find a job as a manga editor and even fight back his own doubts in order to confess his feelings for Ogiue. As of the end of the manga, Sasahara is still dating Ogiue, and accepts the fact that she is using him as a direct model for doujinshi.
