Initially a battle racer in the Ōgami Corps, trained under Dr. Ōgami, he later finds enjoyment in regular racing with the Seiba brothers. Because of this, he decides to leave Ōgami Labs, renouncing the anything-to-win attitude instilled by Dr. Ōgami, and goes to live with Dr. Tsuchiya in his laboratory as an assistant. As a result, he also gradually changes in his personality, turning from an introvert into a more cheerful boy. Of all the other team members, J is the most skilled technician/mechanic, having prior experience with computers and machines while under Ogami's training. One of K's friends and fellow peers, he's apart of a race that when they become too happy, they die. He trained a young woman named Yuri and over the hundred years they spent together he not only fell in love with her but the happiness he felt soon took his life. Like with Yuri, he taught K about human emotions such as warmth and love.<br><br>Yuri: A young woman apart of the same race as K. She spends one hundred years with J to learn to live as a human being with human emotions but falls in love with him over the period. Because of her race she's tied to J to feel happy when he is, to feel pain when he's hurt, and finally, succumb to death with his death. The Black Lambs only accept minors, but J is an exception. He was sent by UNION to support the other members, and little is known of him but the fact that he was a CLOSER who fought in the Dimensional War. His real name and age remains as a mystery, though it is clear from the songs and the celebrities that he likes that he's at-least in his thirties. J's job is to take part in the fighting with the other members, and, in the event that something goes wrong, to take the lead and make sure that they all make it back home alive. He suffers from a number of conditions believed to be lingering injuries from the war, and he's a lot more frail than he looks. J is often seen taking vitamins and pills of uncertain identity, and he often complains about sore shoulders and coldness in his hands. Clair is mentally unstable, brashly immature, and generally insane, often carrying around hand grenades. He is prone to wild, extremely violent and unpredictable behavior.
