Haruna's teacher at her magical school, also known as Dai-sensei (大先生 lit. Great Teacher), who has an affinity for Kyoto-style tofu and sends Haruna to get her some due to her credit cards being overcharged. It is unknown what her true motives are. It is later revealed that she had planned to overthrow Lilia Lilith, the Queen of Villiers, a century before the events of the series, and appointed her top pupil, Chris, as the leader of the coup. It ultimately failed, and Chris and a few others involved took the fall; however, Ariel herself apparently managed to escape punishment.

Maelstrom is able to use tonkotsu ramen soup to instantly defeat Megalos, though the explanation behind it is too advanced for even her to understand, and has a machine which sprays said soup over the city whenever a horde of Megalos attack. As a result of accidentally kissing Ayumu when he was pushed by Haruna, they are technically declared married by her faction's customs, and she constantly acts like a wife while at school, where she goes under the alias Yuki Yoshida. Ayumu's first enconter with her was bumping into her breasts. She's one of the strongest masou shoujo in Netherworld and also Eucliwood's acquaintance. She lives in Human world though, busy making a doujin for winter Comiket. She doesn't have any offensive-type magic. Her ability is negating magic. It is also believed that she's also responsible for suppressing Eucliwood's magic.

She gets jealous whenever Yuki tries to get close Ayumu or whenever Yuki calls Ayumu her husband. In episode 8, Haruna even asked Ayumu to kiss her just to make him her husband.
