Works in the persecution department. From the middle-high class, he proposes to Shuurei under his father's orders despite his lack of personal interest in her. When he first appears, he is bearing many tanuki-themed accessories including a golden statue, causing Seiran to nickname him "Tan-tan." He does not like putting effort into anything and thus is both intrigued and annoyed by Shuurei's continual determination to do her best. However, Tan-tan can clearly perceive a situation's complete context or a person's true character, making him a valuable asset to his department, and he tries to lessen Shuurei's naiveté by showing her the evils of the world. Seiran considers Tan-tan to be a practical influence on Shurei and is unusually willing to engage him in conversation. Nevertheless, Seiran also likes to pelt Suou with bamboo shoots and make him pay for random purchases, calling him "Saifu #2" (wallet #2, after Ensei as #1). Tan-tan is roped into the counterfeit paintings investigation by Shurei and ends up arresting his father, who was used in a larger plot. He saves Shurei from being fired when Riku Seiga steals her research proposal. Since then, Tan-tan has followed Shurei and re-entered the persecution department as her assistant.

Suou started Karuta during university, and became Meijin within 3 years, and has held the title for 4 consecutive years. Everyone acknowledges his god-like abilities, but he is on a constant lookout for someone stronger than himself. He is a solitary genius who always suffers from hunger, and is difficult to get excited. It is his 4th time repeating a year at university. The current Meijin is a weirdo. At first glance he may look like a typical university student, but in reality he is tall, has a questionable beard, an extremely quiet voice, and loves Japanese confectionery. His personal favourite idol is “Kyoukotan” (Yamashiro Kyouko) who is a professional Karuta reader. He once asked her for a recording of her reading the poems, after offering her a gift of confectionaries. He is a man who wants to only fight strong people, and so he rarely makes an appearance at tournaments. Suzu is generally a relaxed, calm and easy going girl. She has an odd love for hot baths and she speaks like an old man (for example: using "washi" to refer to herself instead of "watashi"). It was revealed in episode 7 that she suffers from a rare disease called the Highlander Syndrome, which hinders her ability to age. Her wish was for this illness to be cured and to be able to die normally. She tries to kill Haru by installing a bomb onto her breather, and the only way to get it off is by typing in a 4-digit combo. In the end, Tokaku and Haru manage to obtain the code (which was the birth date of Suzu's loved one), and Suzu is soon expelled.
Sulu Suluzu is an Innovade of the same base sequence type as Telicyra Herfi. She is a Katharon soldier, skilled in piloting mobile suits such as the Tieren Ground Type, and she takes a "brute force" approach to problem solving.
