The protagonist of this story (at least the story seems to be centered around her). She was a member of Sakura Himezawa's clique before the bus accident and participated in the swimming club some time prior to the first chapter. Seems to be a gifted student. Always chooses the easiest path in life which usually entails going along with the current (as a former member of the swimming club she often uses water- and fish-related metaphors when describing her way of life) and not paying attention to her surroundings. Is not devoid of morals, but prefers not to bother due to the aforementioned lifestyle (hence ignoring the bullying of Morishige), appears shallow to the others because of that. Due to bad experience in middle school she doesn't have any real bonds with the people around her. Survives the bus accident and becomes the mediator for the ragtag group of survivors. As a result of the accident she now wants to play an active role and take both charge and responsibility. Is now prone to generously sacrificing herself which only makes matters worse for her. She now wants to forge bonds with people, especially Ichinose, who, as it turns out, despised and envied her and Kamiya whom she kind of looks up to.
A second year middle school student, and a member of the art club. She's the heroine of the story, and has relatively fewer problems.
Hana is Ageha's twin sister. Ageha defines her sister Hana as the better looking one, and very popular. They look very identical, but Hana wears more make-up and curls her hair. She has many guys that like her and she shows off to them. Ageha and Hana have an okay relationship, until Hana cracks and she can't have her sister Ageha being happy. She shows up on her sister's date with Ryuusei, and steals him away. Later Hana and Ryuusei began dating. The reason why Hana wants to take all of Ageha's love intrests is known in later chapters, "I can't stand seeing her happy!"
Ageha is the shy protagonist of this manga. She considers herself unattractive and less beautiful than her twin sister Hana. She shows small jealousy towards her sisters popularity, and has a huge crush upon her childhood friend in the country, Ryuusei. However Hana steals him away from Ageha first when they are on a date. Ageha seems to have a friendly like for Kyuu since he has seemed to help her a lot with her situation.
She becomes the second member of Ren's team, appearing in Chapter 8. She used to be a girl who was constantly harassed and bullied by her classmates since she was in middle school. Telling Shitara that she wanted to die if to continue living her life like that, he uses the hypnotizing skills Ren taught him to releave her of her stress, then later was hypnotized by Ren that lead to her burst of self confidence. She later returns after overhearing Shitara and Ren talking, showing up with a new hair cut and contacts instead of glasses, and dedicating herself to their plan to releave humanity of their weaknesses through hypnosis. In an early chapter she can be seen in a silhouette with her hair before when Ren speaks of a team to help him.
She's a hacker working for a acriminal organization.
Yui is the daughter of human and a member of the Shi clan, who are vaguely reminiscent of the Shinma. Miyu fed on Yui's mother while pregnant with resulting in Miyu's blood running in Yui's veins, making her part vampire. Miyu describes Yui as both her sister, her daughter, and herself. Yui has long dark hair, and looks to be about twelve or thirteen years old. Rival factions of Shi, who do not approve of her existence, hunt Yui. Like Miyu, Yui also has a blood bonded protector, a younger Shinma named Nagi. who is allowing Yui to feed on him as she refuses to feed on humans. Yui is much more shy and timid than Miyu, and she is still largely naive about the world. Her weapon of choice are cherry blossoms, which she can bend to her will in a variety of ways.
