Kudari is one of the leaders of the Battle Subway in Pokémon Black and White, along with Nobori. Kudari made his debut appearance at the end of BW045 along with Nobori where they detected Team Rocket's tampering with the track switches. In BW046 the pair went in search of what or who was causing these disturbances and they caught a glimpse of two figures before they disappeared into the shadows. In BW047 and BW048, Kudari and his brother met Ash, Cilan, and Iris as the subway they were riding had stopped. Kudari and his brother reappeared in BW051, where they had a tag battle against Ash and Cilan. Kudari refers to Nobori as "big brother" indicating that he is the younger of the twins.
Fuuro is the Gym Leader of Fukiyose City's Gym, known officially as the Fukiyose Gym. She specializes in Flying-type Pokémon. Her Pokémon are: Swanna, Kokoromori and Kenhallow.
Bugsy (Tsukushi in original Japanese language versions) is in charge of the Hive Badge, and resides in Azalea Town. He is an expert on Bug-type Pokémon. His name derives from the word bug. In the anime In the anime, Bugsy is a fairly nondescript gym leader whose gym is a large greenhouse dome with a forest-like interior. His motto is "Whoever learns the rules of the Bug Pokémon learns to rule the Bug Pokémon", and his signature Pokémon is Scyther, which he has specifically trained to counter fire Pokémon. His other Pokémon are a Spinarak that specializes in String Shot, and a particularly hard and hard-hitting Metapod. When Ash challenges Bugsy's Pokémon Gym, Ash's relatively inexperienced Cyndaquil fails to defeat Spinarak. Ash's Chikorita succeeds, but in turn is defeated by Bugsy's Metapod. Pikachu finishes off Metapod, and in the end, Cyndaquil comes back to defeat Scyther, winning Ash the Hive Badge. In the manga In Pokémon Adventures, Bugsy is an androgynous-looking archaeologist investigating the Ruins of Alph and the Symbol Pokémon. His signature Pokémon is a Heracross, supplemented with a Metapod. He later acquires a Kakuna and Scyther. He also has a special method of catching Pokémon, one which was invented by him and Kurt, the Poké Ball master. Bugsy has an external capture net attached to his Poké Ball, so when he traps the Pokémon inside the capture net it is automatically sucked into the Poké Ball. If the Pokémon manages to escape from the Poké Ball, it will still be trapped inside the external capture net and thus will still be unable to break free completely. However, when Bugsy faces Suicune his efforts to fight the legendary Pokémon head-on fail as his Heracross's strength falls to the much-stronger Suicune. Eventually Bugsy tries to use the capture net method to capture Suicune, but Suicune manages to break Bugsy's net for the first time, and escapes. Later, he is defeated by Sabrina in the Gym Leaders' Challenge.
Whitney (Akane in original Japanese language versions) is in charge of the Plain Badge, and resides in Goldenrod City. (The Plain Badge's name is a pun in English; Whitney lives on a rural Midwestern-esque farm, and is also a trainer of Normal-type Pokémon.) She is an expert on Normal types. Whitney's name in English means white islands. It was probably chosen because "white" relates to being without color and therefore plain and normal. Her Japanese name, Akane, can be taken to mean madder (a type of plant) or deep red (possibly related to her hair color). Whitney's signature Pokémon is a particularly tough Miltank. In the anime Whitney is the niece of a Miltank farmer, has the unique ability to always take the right path to wherever she needs to go, as long as she has no idea how to get to her destination, and is also noted for her clumsiness. She ends up leading Ash and his friends on a wild goose chase through Goldenrod City, ending at the Goldenrod Galleria, before Ash realizes that she is the gym leader. They battle, but after defeating her Nidorina and Clefairy, Ash's Pokémon turn out to be no match for Whitney's Miltank. After working at Whitney's uncle's farm for a bit and foiling a Team Rocket scheme, he earns a rematch with Whitney, where Pikachu outmaneuvers and knocks out her Miltank. In the manga In Pokémon Adventures, Whitney is an actress who is good friends with DJ Mary (to whom she gave a Smeargle). She met Gold while performing at the Radio Tower in Goldenrod City, but the two clashed and ended up competing against each other in a bike race. Whitney isn't a strong Gym Leader, according to Suicune, and is the one of two Johto Gym Leaders (along with Pryce) that Suicune doesn't challenge for the right to be its partner in the fight against the Mask of Ice. In the end, she was the first to realize that Pryce was the villain known as the Mask of Ice. Whitney has a Cleffa and Igglybuff who work together to stun and confuse enemies to set them up for Miltank's attacks. At one point she also has a particularly mischievous Smeargle, but she gives it away. She faces Misty at the Pokémon League and loses due to a Hyper Beam from Starmie.
Pryce (Yanagi in original Japanese language versions) is in charge of the Glacier Badge, and resides in Mahogany Town. He is an expert on Ice types. His signature Pokémon are Swinub and Piloswine. Pryce's name may be derived from the word ice. In the anime Pryce starts out as a cold and abrasive man who believes that Pokémon are for battling and nothing more, as a result of an incident from his youth. During a storm, his beloved Piloswine disappeared and Pryce believed it to have abandoned him. During an encounter with Ash, the two of them are trapped underground and come across a frozen Piloswine, which turns out to be Pryce's. Realizing that it had tried to find healing herbs (the two had previously been badly burned by a Magmar), Pryce reconciles with his reunited Pokémon and turns over a new leaf, once again seeing Pokémon as friends. Afterwards, Pryce battles Ash having his Dewgong defeated by Cyndaquil and Piloswine by Pikachu winning Ash the glacier badge. In the manga Possessing an ability to control his ice sculptures as if they were real Pokemon, for training, Pryce is the oldest Gym Leader of Johto and lives by himself, rarely visited. For some reason he, like Whitney, was not visited by Suicune like the rest of the Gym Leaders. Pryce's main Pokemon is his Swinub. It turns out Mask of Ice, the villain of the Gold/Silver/Crystal chapter is actually another ice puppet created by Pryce and controlled by him (via Pokegear when necessary). Pryce's plan is to use Ho-oh and Lugia's feathers and create a special Pokeball with which Celebi, a time-traveling Pokemon could be caught. His aim is to repair his old mistake as a trainer, which caused a death of two of his Pokemon just before their egg hatched. Pryce actually succeeds in all of his plans and disappears in the stream of time after Celebi escapes. He does realize his mistakes however and his life-long pain gets healed. Anime: Ash was sent to Johto to deliver the GS Ball to Kurt for study and found Azalea Town suffering through a drought. Ash accidentally stepped on the tail of a local Slowpoke, and he was chased by an angry mob, but Kurt disguised him and his friends in Slowpoke costumes and saved them. Kurt lived in Azalea Town, a town that considered Slowpoke sacred for their mythical abilities to cause rainfall. Ash and his friends met him while investigating Slowpoke Well because he heard strange noises coming from within. It turned out that Team Rocket was trying to steal the Slowpoke. Ash helped recover the Slowpoke and defeated Team Rocket. Later, Kurt received the GS Ball. Ash wanted to see if Kurt would make him special Poké Balls. Kurt gave Ash, Brock, and Misty each a Fast Ball as thanks for helping them. Ash and his friends gathered Apricorns and Kurt made Ash and Misty Lure Balls, and made Brock a Heavy Ball. As of the latest anime episode, Kurt is still studying the GS Ball. Manga: Silver got a Heavy Ball from Kurt, intending to catch an Ursaring with it. Kurt cautioned Silver that only experienced trainers could wield his special Poké Balls. Later, Gold met Maisy and Kurt. Kurt explained that once, his ancestors were the only ones capable of creating Poké Balls until companies started to mass produce them. Kurt then carried a slight grudge against Gold for making fun of his Apricorn Balls, saying that Gold wasn't experienced enough to use his special Balls, something that annoyed Gold. He then challenged Gold to catch a Pokémon using one of his balls and if he couldn't by dusk, he would have to become his apprentice, which he accepted. Kurt made a Friend Ball for Gold, and later Gold and Silver were able to use their custom Poké Balls to capture a Teddiursa and Ursaring. Silver kept Ursaring for himself while Gold gave Teddiursa to Maisy. Kurt then appeared at Slowpoke Well, to see a mass of Team Rocket Grunts tied up and defeated, everyone wondering who did it. Later, the Masked Man forced Kurt to turn over his plans for the GS Ball. In their youth, Professor Oak, Agatha, Kurt, Pryce, and the old couple who run the Goldenrod City Pokémon Daycare were all close friends. She is a test tube baby like Rudolf. It is unknown if she is the blood sister of Rudolf. Nevertheless she respects and loves Rudolf dearly to a level beyond siblings, and dislikes Aika for "seducing" her brother Rudolf. A sadistic character and unstable mood, she walks around in her bare essentials and makes sure the black Delmos are punished for failure. She later receives from Rudolf an Alternate Metal panty which allows her to transform to a powered up form. However, the device fusing into her soon runs out of control, and she becomes a hideous monster. In this form she embraces and kills her brother and flees into space cradling his corpse.
