The lead character of the series. She is a bubbly girl who has magical powers which she uses only in secret. That is because she is forbidden by her parents to use it. It is only when her cooking teacher Washu discovered her magical powers that they are to be of use. Except for the absence of freckles and the triangular mark on her forehead, she looks similar to her metaseries counterpart.
Age: 14 Birthdate: September 20 Zodiac: Virgo Madoka's classmate who, after helping Madoka rescue Kyubey, ends up getting an offer to become a Puella Magi herself. She cares deeply for her friends, and wants to help an ill boy named Kyousuke Kamijou, whom she has a crush on. Before becoming a Puella Magi, Sayaka wields a baseball bat that Mami can enhance with magic to defend herself with while on witch hunts. In order to cure Kyosuke's hand, which was damaged in an accident which robbed him of his ability to play the violin, she becomes a Puella Magi. Sayaka's weapon of choice is a sword. She also has regenerative powers stronger than anyone else due to the nature of her wish. Sayaka hates people who think only of themselves whilst hurting others and is easily provoked into a fight. After learning how Puella Magi are created, Sayaka starts to descend into despair, as she believes she's now no better than a zombie and thus cannot openly admit her love for Kyousuke. Her state of mind only worsens as one of her two best friends, Hitomi, confesses that she has feelings for Kyousuke too and makes advances on him. At the same time, she also refuses to purify her Soul Gem with Grief Seeds and neglects it to become tainted. At the end of episode 8, her Soul Gem was finally exhausted, and Sayaka turns into the witch Oktavia von Seckendorff. She dies in a battle with Sakura Kyouko, who sacrifices herself in order to not let Sayaka die alone. In episode 10, it's revealed that during Akemi Homura's third time loop, Sayaka also suffered the same fate of turning into a witch, and was killed by Homura with an explosive.
Bulga (Voiced by: Akeno Watanabe ) is the third magical girl to be introduced to the series, and acts as a foil to both Ureshiko and Sayaka throughout the plot. Bulga arrives in the Wonderland as a messenger of Realm's elders. Her job is to find out Sayaka has not taken possession of the Managerial Ring, and to assist her in any way possible. However, Cruje reveals that she was the second-ranked magical girl in the competition to become the next manager, and she makes no attempt to hide her contempt for her former opponent. After relaying the Elders' message, Bulga strikes out on her own to take the ring for herself and usurp the position of Manager, but is unable to take it out of Ureshiko's possession. She later forms an alliance with Chane and Hermes to take the ring away from Agnes and present it to Cruje. Unlike Ureshiko and Sayaka, Bulga never transforms into a magical girl in order to use her powers. Instead, she makes use of an ever-twirling umbrella as both her broom and wand, and is able to move stone, animate objects, and manipulate the wind with ease.[2] Bulga is also able to hypnotize Sayaka on two separate occasions, and has the ability to transfigure herself into a dog.[14] Interestingly, she only needs to use the common magical phrase "Magity" when using her destructive spells, and is able to perform her other magic without it. Bulga is the most calculating of the magical girls who come from Realm to help Cruje. She displays the most destructive tendencies, and does not seem to mind damaging the Wonderland as long as it helps her achieve her goals. However, her ambition does seem to have some limits, as she flees in fear from Agnes once all the damage she caused was repaired in an instant by the Manager's power. Though she shows little development during the series, she does seem to have some human emotion—when she accidentally attacks Valentine with her umbrella, she automatically apologizes and flies away. At the very end of the series, it is hinted that Bulga will live in the Wonderland as an attendant to Cruje, and she seems to be making friends with some of the other children at the middle school. Also called Shoujou, she has dog ears and can transform into a small dog. She is one of the members who cannot transform, but acts as a sort of familiar for the others. Every time some one refers to her as a dog, she sharply denies being one, which is often disproved by one of the members issuing a command such as "shake" and her automatically complying. Cooking teacher and adviser of the magical girls' club (and of the cooking club). Although she is recruited by the school, she is in fact from the world of the witches. As advisor, she trains the girls to be good magical girls. Ironically, although she is the cooking teacher, she herself cannot cook. Other than the red rather than green eyes, fans of the Tenchi Muyo! franchise can recognize this character as the Washu they know.
The second member of the magical girl club whom Sasami befriended. She comes off as an introvert because she attracts worm-like creatures around her whenever she gets scared and they envelop her body, making her scary to those around her. It is only after meeting Sasami that she becomes more outgoing. Except for the bow on her hair and her hair being more purple than purplish black, she resembles Misao Amano.
A man who Sasami meets on her trip to the world of the witches. He seems to have already known Sasami when she first met him, he claims it's because he knows her shadow. Sasami finds herself to be very fond of him, and thinks often of him after their encounter.
