A boy from the city of Daizaifu in Kyūshū, Hayato becomes one of Tatara's first allies. He is the successor to the sword of Suzaku, but specializes in the use of bow and arrows. Hayato is scatterbrained, but because he gets the others out of many dangerous situations, he becomes a sort of mascot figure for the Tatara Army.
13 years old, Daiya is the young pilot of Gaiking. As 47th member of the Daikuu Maryuu crew, he joins in order to travel to Darius and find his missing father. Daiya is full of courage and is the crew's most powerful member. He treasures all his fellow crewmates and friends and relies on them in battle. When piloting, hair changes from black to red-orange, mimicing a flame.
Akane is Yuu's younger sister. She died in a fire caused by an earthquake when Yuu was a child.
A student at Asakumi Girls' High School who loves playing mahjong. Her mother disappeared when she was young, so she went to live with her uncle.
The governor of Dazaifu and commander of the Kyūshū division of the Red Army, Shidou is the Red King's cousin and closest confidant. While generally warm and genial, Shidou does not flinch from the grizzlier duties of leadership - he is a calculating and ruthless general who is said to leave mountains of corpses behind him on the battlefield. Shidou is the first character to realize the full implications of Sarasa and Shuri's relationship, but he is killed before he can speak of it.
Kenichi, Hinata's father, is the one who used to take Hinata and Aoi hiking before Aoi's accident, and is more than happy to supply the girls with any kind of advice and help they'd need.
Soma, a young boy, who had been accused by the King of the Heaven for supposedly stealing his sword. Heavenly beings along with Demons have been fighting for many generations for ultimate supremacy. The previous renowned wielder of this sword became referred to as King Pachun (who unknown to Soma is his father). The princess of heaven, and the General Winter join him on an adventure to retrieve this Blade of Heaven. Although it is revealed that Soma is the one who stole the sword, the blade later chose him as its new owner.
