Because of this, even people near to her speak of her as if she is older than she really is, a pet peeve for her. A phrase she commonly responds back with is "I'm still a fresh seventeen year old." She is the character with the most common sense, although her sense of value in money is as bad as Nagi's, and appears to be the one in charge of everything in Nagi's manor, since everyone from the head butler to the SP either obeys or fears her (or both in some cases). She is highly intelligent, somewhat devious, good at general housework and likes games of all kinds, though she is Katsaridaphobic, meaning she is deathly afraid of cockroaches, which she refers to as "the dark life-form that exists in the kitchen and other places." She has also proved capable of self-defense techniques in times of need. She is, however, poor at disguises, as seen multiple times when she tries to spy on Hayate and Nagi and is recognized instantly. Maria also placed her mark in Hakuou by being the youngest student council president at the age of 10 in her first year. She is one of the only people mentioned to be smarter than Nagi, this is the reason why Nagi made Maria her only maid. She started off as Nagi's tutor. But although she is highly intelligent, she has no clue about the "normal life." Like for instance, on the manga, she didn't know that there are other trains than bullet trains. She has no last name because she was an orphan who was found next to the statue of St. Mary at a church, which is where she got her name. Not knowing anything about herself, her birthday was decided as December 24, the day she was found. She is the unfortunate one who always has to clean up everyone's messes. She has seen Hayate naked several times, and she sees the effect he has on other girls, many of whom are attracted to him for his kind nature although she has trouble determining if she herself is one of them due to her lack of first-hand experience with interpersonal attractions.
Age: 17 Date of birth: June 21 The Phantom Thief Kid or The Magician Under the Moonlight (Kaito Kid) is a world-renowned thief who steals treasures and gems. He is sometimes known as Kaito Kid or "International Criminal 1412." Despite the fact that Shinichi (Conan) does not care much about investigating thefts, Kid can be considered his archnemesis, as he is the one criminal (beside some members of the Black O) he can not seem to catch. Curiously, Kaito discovers Conan's true identity (non-canon, movies only), but keeps his secret, and sometimes Conan can even count on Kid's help to solve some of his cases; however, not even Kudo Shinichi knows about Kid's true identity. Throughout the story, Kaito Kid and Conan have crossed paths but he has always managed to escape from Conan's clutches by his special skills. Kaito is son of the magician, Touichi Kuroba, and apparently knew Shinichi's mother. Touichi Kuroba also made clues for Shinichi and Ran, who were in first grade. Oyuki is the queen of Neptune, which in the series is a frozen, snowy planet populated entirely by women, as most of the men have to go off-planet to find work. As a child she used to hang out with Lum, Ran, and Benten when they were all in grade school. She is clearly patterned after the yuki-onna (literally "snow woman") of Japanese folklore. As such, she has the power to control and create ice, snow, and extreme cold. Typically dressed in a long, elegant kimono, Oyuki is soft-spoken, regal in demeanor and very slow to show anger. However, once roused to actually display her abilities she proves to be the most powerful character in the series. Because of the wrath she displays when angered, Oyuki is the only person in the entire galaxy that Ran genuinely fears.
Kojima Genta is a student in Teitan Elementary when Shinichi joins his class as Edogawa Conan. Shortly afterwards, he and his classmate Ayumi decide to investigate an apparently haunted mansion, and they persuade Conan to come along. When their friend and classmate Mitsuhiko expresses his skepticism about supernatural hauntings, Genta forcefully 'persuades' him to tag along as well. As it turns out, the haunting is a cover-up for an old homicide case. Soon after, the accidental acquisition of a treasure map leads Ayumi, Genta, Mistuhiko and Conan on a hunt for a cache of stolen Italian gold coins, during which Conan saves them from getting killed by the mafia members who are also after the gold. After the case is resolved, Mitsuhiko joins Genta and Ayumi in forming the nucleus of an amateur detective group, the Detective Boys. Genta is quick to pronounce himself the leader of the group, but his lackadaisical leadership abilities are commonly neglected in the field, and in fact everyone (even Genta) unconsciously views Conan as the group's actual leader. Genta's school shoe locker is used as a mailbox for any of their fellow students to present them with a case to solve. Genta loves food, especially unagi, and can eat more than all the other Detective Boys members combined. When discussions of money come up, Genta tends to think about it in terms of how many unagi bowls he could buy. He also tends to mess up certain Japanese terms with similar-sounding words (especially if the latter are related to food) and sometimes has trouble reading even the most common Kanji, which on occasion causes some ridicule from his classmates and friends. His brash personality, lack of awareness of his surroundings, and tendency to not think before acting often lands the Detective Boys (or at least himself) in sticky situations. Even though he is brash, outspoken and can be intimidating, Genta is actually very kind and dependable. Squala is one of Neon Nostrade's bodyguards. During the job interview for new hires, he was one of the two moles planted alongside the applicants in order to test their strength. Although Squala has been one of Neon's bodyguards for many years, he does not have a Hunters License. He is also in a romantic relationship with Eliza, one of Neon's female attendants. Lum's childhood friend and most loyal friend in the Galaxy. Her character is named after Shichifukujin Benzaiten (one of the Seven Lucky Gods), the Shinto goddess of knowledge, art, and beauty. This Benten is a "space biker chick" who wears a plate-mail bikini, sports a "butch" hair style, tears around the sky on a flying alien chopper, curses like a longshoreman, and carries a high-tech bazooka.
