It is shown that he is a highly skilled and competent chief capable on carrying out delicate procedures such as the removal of a puffer-whale's poison sack. He is also able to create delicious plates from any food giving to him and he has such a large knowledge of foods that he knows which foods would work well together. He is also very observant, being easily able to discover edible organisms in the area. His skills didn't go unnoticed since he has impressed all three of the "Four Heavenly Kings". Toriko noted he has skills even higher than five-star class, Coco who was surprised since Komatsu's skill is most likely world class and Sani seems to be in love with the way Komatsu works as a chef since it produces the "harmony" in food that Sani holds in such high regard. Appearing much older than he really is, Airs Blue (age 15) is the leader of Team Blue, and at one point, Captain of the Ryvius. Skilled in martial arts himself, Blue intentionally puts himself in danger so as to feel alive. He was suppressing his violent side when on the Liebe Delta, but the Ryvius is a whole new environment and Blue sees the opportunity to unleash his natural aggression and take over the ship. The fact he owns the only firearm on the Ryvius, a needle-shooting pistol stolen from one of the saboteurs of the Liebe Delta, assists his coup significantly
A living weapon Monomakia, known as a Gun-Swordsman, Melan is the main hero of the series. Melan is tall and humanoid in appearance, wearing blue armor. A set of retractable wings extend from his back, apparently needed for flying. A narrow, single-edge sword is attached to his right arm and a powerful laser rifle is on his left. Melan has no actual hands. He can reach and grab objects, even a newspaper, with a set of tentacles that extend from his chest. Melan is discovered by Marin and assigns himself the mission of protecting her from Monomakia that would seek to kill her. For what reason so, he doesn't talk about, apparently under orders of strict secrecy. A century ago, Melan stole Creis from Brigadoon and sent her to Earth to save her from renegades. Melan fought single-handedly against many other Monomakia. After defeating them all and safely hiding Creis, he was sealed into his ampule and kept at the Nezu Shrine where he was later released by Marin. Melan is fairly emotionless and doesn't understand human life. Only after observing Marin for some time, does he come to understand peace.
