Maaya is a third year and is the head of the Drama Club in Sora's high school. She is thought to be weird as she suddenly quotes dramatic lines and often exaggerates her gestures, but nonetheless is extremely optimistic and looks out for others. She was the first one to notice what Nomura Shun truly wanted after watching his soccer game with Sora. Despite the obvious need of the club for male members, she was the most vocal for Shun to continue soccer instead of the Drama Club, even to the point of pretending to shun him out of the club. The main protagonist of the story. She has a secret that she is a professional mangaka who draws shoujo manga. After an accident at school, Tomoya finds out her secret, and remembering some advice from her editor, she asked him for a date so that she could learn more and improve her work. However, throughout the series, she is easily embarrassed by having any contact with boys (especially Tomoya) and often turns either extremely red or melts into goo. Later on, she falls in love with Tomoya although she questions their relationship. She becomes jealous when Tomoya shoots a kissing scene with an actress (who is also a fan of Rena's works). He greatly fears Elda, whose overly affectionate manner when he was a child causes him to flee at the mere sight or mention of her.

Karin's grandmother. Karin bears a remarkable resemblance to her; the only difference any of the characters seem to notice is Elda's smaller breasts and her much longer pink hair and red eyes. Ren is scared stiff of her; he first met her when he was four, before Karin and Anju were born, and she almost killed him with affection. The main character in the story. An overall nice guy attending middle (and later high) school who gets caught up in many embarrassing but endearing romantic situations. Although his thoughts on girls can get quite perverted on occasion, his gentleness and kindness, as well as his selflessness at times, is what attracts girls to him. His dream is to make films as a director. While not academically gifted, he has great talent with cinematography that gradually develops as the story progresses.
