Keita is the male lead of the show. He was considered a failure by his family due to his attitude towards their ancient duty to vanquish evil, treating it like a parttime job, and his initial inability to find an Inukami to bond with. Even though Yôko becomes his inukami and is fully interested in him, he has a bad habit of flirting with other girls; it is later revealed that Keita is mortified by the thought that, if he should develop a relationship with Yôko, he might become the father of a litter of puppies, rather than of a human baby. He is frequently punished for his transgressions by Yôko, to whom he had to promise that he would be loyal to her, that he would be hers and that he would be her toy, to do with whatever she wanted, before she would contract with him. He wears a dog's collar as a symbol of this pact - an item he originally intended as his 'vow gift' to Yôko. Yôko has frequently landed him in jail by teleporting him into a public place without his clothes, causing him to be mistaken for a streaker and arrested for indecent exposure. Due to this, he has been named Ra-ou (Naked King) by the city's perverts (male and female alike). Keita possesses considerable athletic skills, can make frog-shaped talismans up to around the size of his fist from rubber which he can use to make ranged attacks and is a practitioner of xingyiquan. However, a shinigami named 'Sea of Violence' commented his martial arts skill lack style. Despite his many flaws, Keita has considerable redeeming qualities; he is determined, usually fearless and loyal to his friends and to people under his protection.
Student Number: 2 Birthday: June 1, 1988 She is an athletic girl who plays basketball and is often seen together with Makie, Ako, and Akira (a.k.a. the Sports clubs group). Her father is Professor Akashi, one of the Mage-teachers at the Academy. Yuna is the most mischievous one amongst the sports girls. Her pactio items are basketballs and a pair of shoes allowing her to jump very high. Yuna's surname, Akashi, comes from the Japanese city of the same name in Hy�go Prefecture. In the manga, she is depicted to have black hair. In both anime series, her hair is depicted to have a shade of brown; in the Mahou Sensei Negima! series, her hair is somewhat close to sandy taupe; in Negima!?, her hair is colored brown. She finds out while in the magical world, that her mother did not die in an overseas accident like she thought, but was killed while on a mission for the magical government, which possibly involved Nagi's fight against Fate Averruncus' organization.

Excels at studies, and has the 4th largest bust in the class. Kazumi Asakura is student number three in the class and the class reporter who is mostly seen sporting a large grin. She likes to get the inside scoop on everything that goes on, and is part of the Mahora Paparazzi. Her dedication to digging out the "truth" extends to knowingly working with her friends enemies so long as she gets a "scoop." She finds out about the secret of magic while spying on Negi, though she is persuaded to keep it a secret in exchange for a probationary contract. She is close friends with Sayo, the ghost girl, and often has her spy on people in order to obtain a scoop. She later obtains a doll for Sayo to possess, so that she can leave the school grounds. Her pactio, "Oculus Corvinus," creates up to six small golem cameras that she is able to manipulate and send to any part of the world.
Negi Springfield is the teacher of Mahora Girls' Jr High School class 3-A (formley 2-A) with formely 31 students, now reduced to 30. Negi Springfield is the son of master mage Nagi Springfield, famously known as the legendary "Thousand Master" and princess Akira of the Ostian Empire in the magic world. At present, Negi has formed 11 temporarily pactio with his students (Asuna, Nodoka, Setuna, Konoka, Yue, Haruna, Chisame, Kazumi, Kaede, Kuu Fei, and Chachamaru) and 1 temporarily pactio with Theo, which gives him the artifact that allow him to use any of his partner's artifact. Negi specialize in Wind spells and Lightning spells (his father's specialty) though he is initially lacking in battle experience. He later trains under Ku Fei in Martial Arts to make up for his weakness in close combat, advancing very quickly (even learning how to do instant movement, otherwise known as Shundou), and applies a strong magical barrier around himself to avoid damaging his frail body. He eventually becomes a master of using delayed spells as a battle tactic. Due to the training he had with Evangeline and Jack Rakan, his magic and combat capability increases exponentially. Negi also learns and improves upon Evangeline's "Magia Erebea," which absorb offensive spells into his own body. He also came up with a new spell: "Spell Synthesis: Lightning God Lance Titan Slayer" which is a new high class lightning spell. Negi even manage to use Magia Erebea's ultimate ability by using a magic circle that can stop and absorb the enemy's attack whether it is magical or spiritual attack and use it against them, which even Evangeline herself could not master it. In the latest chapter, it is shown that Magia Erebea marks have begin to spread all over Negi's body and that Negi has formed a temporarily pactio with Shiori, one of Fate's subordinates. His aim is to become a Magister Magi (master mage) like his father and find his father who is currently missing.
Seat Number: 9 Born on: 4th of April, 1988 Clubs: Track Team At the beginning of the manga, she doesn't have an active role. However, later she is revealed to be able to use magic. She disguises herself as a sister when she uses and she's also shown a strong resistance in order to protect her secret identity (in vain, since Asuna noticed at first glance that she was Misora). Her artifact is a pair of super jet shoes.

Initially an antagonist for Negi due to his father's actions, she eventually becomes an important teacher and guide for the young mage and his allies as they fight and search for his missing father. However, Eva remains a cruel, powerful mage in her own right, yet with the sensitivities of her former human life. UQ HOLDER: She's usually in the adult form thanks to magic pills, and assumed the alias "Yukihime".

She's short and at times has a blunt way of speaking to people, but is generally a friendly person. She likes to read but (ironically) doesn't like to study, and is one of the Baka Rangers (a name for the 5 worst students in Negi's class). When she finds out that Negi is a mage she gets excited about learning magic herself. At first she shows no romantic interest in Negi, but as time goes by she finds herself developing a crush on him. However she doesn't want to hurt Nodoka, so she tries to keep it bottled up as much as she can. She's supportive of Nodoka and wishes her the best of luck when it comes to her and Negi's relationship. Yue became the 5th person in Negi's class to make a Pactio with him, following Asuna, Nodoka, Setsuna, and Konoka.
