Yozuru is a lady with black hair and red pupils. Her hair, which is styled in a bob cut, has red streaks on it, and is adorned with a bird-shaped hair clip. She is dressed in a khaki shirt worn over a black collared top, the latter of which is also decorated with the same bird design as in her hair clip, and wears a pair of dark red pants held in place by suspenders. Her footwear of choice is a pair of black high-heeled sandals. She is a professional onmyouji and belongs to the same university that Deishuu Kaiki and Meme Oshino studied in and the three are known to be constantly together as members of the university's occult research club. Among the three, she is the one who prefers to stand for justice. Between those three university students, she was the only one who graduated. Yozuru is a rather famous figure in the realm of the supernatural, to the point that Shinobu Oshino, herself a very powerful oddity, refused to divulge any information about her as a form of respect. She speaks in a Kyoto dialect, and is described as having the expertise in the dialect as a native speaker. She also has an unusual quirk of avoiding to step on the ground, as if playing a game where the ground is a sea filled with sharks. She maintains this quirk at all times, and would even use her familiar Yotsugi Ononoki as a platform of sorts if needed. It was revealed that as an exchange for her immense strength, she was given a condition to never step on the earth. She fights by using her fists and is powerful enough to punch through multiple floors at once. Unlike Meme, Deishu, and Gaen, she works for free which means that she only hunts and kills oddities because that is what she truly wanted. Yozuru calls herself "Japan's first battle onmyouji." She is sadistic and brutal and chose to specialize in exorcising immortal beings because nothing else is a challenge for her. Although she considers herself as an ally of justice, her ideology is based on exacting justice by eliminating those who should not exist (immortal oddities) and disregarding the consequences and doing such an act. To her, immortal oddities have no place in the world. Despite this, however, she has a considerate side as well, seeing people like Koyomi as a human despite having contact with an oddity. According to Koyomi himself, Yozuru reminds him of Meme somewhat. Yozuru uses her judgement on which immortal kais to fight and hunt by separating them into what is alive forever and what is dead forever. She then hunts kai that are considered alive forever and that's why Yotsugi is her assistant as Yotsugi is technically not alive. The Demon World's leader, who sends Nora off to the Human World for "obedience lessons". Though being evil is her full-time job, the Dark Liege never neglects her beauty regimen. She often changes from her monstrous true form, which some readers didn't realize was that the liege was female, to her "smokin' hottie" human form and back with out warning or purpose. She's also known as, according to Kazuma, "old big and busty". Several characters have called her "Her Vain Highness". As for Nora, he refers to her as "ugly". The Dark Liege is often shown to be willing, even eager, to provide fan service as well. This is shown in her various phone calls to Kazuma Magari to check up on him and Nora. The Dark Liege used to be the master of the previous Cerberus Deigree. Her magical weapon is a longsword, as shown when she was engaged in battle with Fall.
As the last survivor of his clan, Knuckles lived most of his life in seclusion on Angel Island, an island floating in the air; and as such he is something of a loner. His inexperience with off-islanders leaves him very honest, and also gullible. Knuckles is shy around girls. Although he is cool and determined in battle; his short temper gives rise to situations in which Knuckles, often instigated by the trickery of Dr. Eggman, begins fighting Sonic the Hedgehog.In the anime Sonic X, when Amy asks Sonic why Knuckles wouldn't come with them, Sonic replies "That's Knuckles. He does things his own way." Although he and Sonic fight from time to time, there is an undercurrent of mutual understanding between the two. Ever since the introduction of Shadow the Hedgehog as one of Sonic's darker, more anti-heroic rivals, Knuckles' relationship with Sonic has seen as much more friendly by comparison, and they both rarely fight anymore. Additionally, Knuckles has been tasked all his life as being the Guardian of the Master Emerald, as only descendants of his tribe are capable of controlling it. If Sonic exemplifies the wind, then Knuckles is the mountain: stern and anchored to his duty. However he finds Sonic's adventurous lifestyle enviable. Various literature from the early games list his favorite food as being fruit, or to be more specific, grapes. He also is described as hating strong light; in Casino Park in Sonic Heroes, if you keep the characters still for long enough he'll say, "Everything is so twinkling and bright. I hate it!!" Sairei no Hebi, or Snake of the Festival, is a powerful Crimson God who leads the Crimson Denizen organization Bal Masqué. He was sealed for centuries after a great battle against Flame Haze.
Rofocale is a Crimson Denizen who calls himself a "musician". He is a follower and servant of the Crimson Goddess of Guidance, Shaher. He wanders around the land, to look for an event important enough to make the whole world learn about it; when it happens, he summons his goddess, who gives her guidance. This, however, is at the cost of Rofocale's life. He talks by using poems, while playing his lute. Rofocale is affiliated with Bal Masqué for unknown reasons. However, he has little to no influence with the state of affairs in the organization but has privilege to wander around Seireiden or leave the fortress without restriction. After refusing to announce the plan of Shana, he gets a revelation of the new-born child of Johann and Pheles, Justus, who is the first descendant born from a Crimson Denizen and a human. He considers it to be an event important enough to will change the fate of both Crimson and human worlds, and thus, sacrifices his life by summoning Shaher, who lets everyone learn about the event.
