The third son of Souichirou Shimogamo, Yasaburo is a tanuki living in modern Kyoto who is obsessed with the daily life of humans, tanuki and tengu. After his father's death, he and his three brothers became known as the four tanuki losers of Kyoto and were labeled as disgraces to the tanuki name. Despite this, Yasaburo lives a carefree life shapeshifting into humans and observing the interaction of humans and tanuki while taking care of an old tengu and avoiding a magical woman.

The mother of the Shimogamo sons. She is also known as "The Black Prince" and is usually hanging out at the pool hall. She doesn't see any of her sons as failures of the Shimogamo family, and is proud of them all.

A young hedgehog who also happens to be Sonic's most loyal fan. Madly in love with the blue hedgehog, Amy is often seen trying to track him down, and thus finds herself mixed up in the conflicts between Eggman as well. Hardly a damsel in distress, Amy is one of the most powerful characters with her Piko Piko Hammer, though she often finds herself using it simply for comic relief. Of course, if Sonic is threatened, Amy will quickly step in to save him.

Mamoru is the father of the Daichi family, but control is usually taken by his wife. He is the standard socially-challenged otaku stereotype.
