Although he's known throughout most of China in being a kindly old magician, Fo uses this masquerade as a way to hide his true occupation, in which he's really an ancient bloodthirsty assassin who has no remorse for the victims he slays. He participated in the first two Toshinden tournaments and afterwards, visited a humanoid ape named Bayhou. He passed down his iron claws to the creature and trained him in his fighting style. It is believed that Fo was then killed by Bayhou, since he carries a skull on his back that resembles the shape of Fo’s head and also because Fo's character model, used as a hidden outfit for Bayhou, depicts him as a zombie with a bloody claw mark on his back.

However, she eventually realizes that Yuu's behavior around Miki indicates that he does like her, so she stops her pursuit of him. A piano player par excellence, Miki has fond memories of playing songs with his twin sister Kozue in his childhood, but her refusal to play with him in the present — the symbol of a much deeper rift — gives Miki a sense of loss. His crush on Anthy in the anime (but on Utena in the manga) develops when he realizes that they remind him of his estranged sister. In both adaptions, his drive to duel stems from a desire to find something to replace Kozue in his affections. All the females of the school, even older ones, idolize him, but Kozue threatens any girls who attempt to get too close to him. Likewise he is very protective of her, and so she tries to make him jealous by dating as many boys as possible. He is a member of the Student Council, his position appearing to be the council secretary. He frequently appears with a stopwatch in hand. Miki is also a member of the fencing club. In the movie, Miki is shown as having a stronger relationship with Juri, and he more clearly is beginning to resent his sister. He and Kozue bathe together in one scene, in which he tells her that they can never be as close as they once were and she presses razor to his throat and accuses him of being a traitor. The hero of the story is Shima (or "Shipon (�ー�ん)" as she is dubbed by Arisa) who joins the Stellvia foundation's space program so that she could "see the stars while looking forward, rather than having to look up." In the beginning, she fluctuates between complete confidence in her abilities and believing she couldn't do anything. The series depicts her as extremely diligent, although she is also a natural genius. As the series progresses, she learns to understand her mistakes and not think that she has to be perfect or else fail. For instance, after a rocky start to her training, during which she was dead last in her class at piloting, she takes the advice of Kouta Otoyama and realizes she was trying to keep track of far too much information on her ship displays. Her piloting improves dramatically as a result. Despite her early setbacks as a pilot, her programming abilities are top notch from the very start, and she eventually combines the two in order to become even more formidable in the cockpit. The husband of Izumi Curtis, an enormous muscular man who works as a butcher in the town of Dublith. He is a man of few words and does not question the judgment of his beloved wife, even after she tried to resurrect their infant son when the child died. Like Izumi, he cares deeply for the Elric brothers and also dislikes the military. In the manga, when greeted by Fuhrer King Bradley, he ignores the Fuhrer's inquiries and offer for Izumi to become a State Alchemist, but ends up befriending Major Alex Louis Armstrong in a muscle flexing contest. Strangely, in one episode of the anime, he is seen sleeping with both eyes open. He also becomes friends with Winry Rockbell.
