Unlike Tamaki, the Hitachiin brothers are wholly calculating in their customer relations; however, this is because of their deep dependency of each other and a reluctance to let anyone into their world. Hikaru and Kaoru share a deep emotional bond, which was forged through a lonely childhood and through the fact that no one could tell them apart without looking at the parting of their hair (Hikaru's hair parts to the right; Kaoru's parts to the left). Since Haruhi is the first person that can truthfully tell them apart, they greatly treasure her friendship. Haruhi has stated that Hikaru and Kaoru have their differences, despite being identical twins. Of the two, Kaoru is nicer, more mature, and considerate of others. Tamaki was the one who coerced the brothers into joining the Host Club in their last year of middle school. Since they told him they would join if he could guess which one was Hikaru, Tamaki repeatedly followed them around, tossing out random guesses as to who was Hikaru and who was Kaoru. They finally crumbled, and decided to just try out the Host Club, which was their first step towards a greater exposure to a world outside of their own. Later in the manga, both Hikaru and Kaoru fall in love with Haruhi. In chapter 52, Kaoru takes Haruhi on a date to an amusement park; he tells her he loves her, and kisses her cheek, but gives up on her afterwards because his relationship with Hikaru is more important to him. His father, the superintendent of Ouran Academy, fell in love with Tamaki's French mother and divorced his first wife to marry her. For that reason, Tamaki's paternal grandmother harbors a strong hatred towards Tamaki. Nevertheless, he is constantly trying to get her to accept him as part of the Suou family. Because of his family situation, Tamaki sees the Host Club as one big family and tries to maintain that illusion, to the extent of telling himself that his love for Haruhi is fatherly even when it is clearly not. Later in the manga, Tamaki gets closer to Haruhi even though he says it's mostly like a father; however, he tells Kyoya the reason why he hasn't been cheerful is because of his stricken love for Haruhi. Age: 22 Height: 179 cm Birthday: August 29 Blood Type: B Just like the others, Natsume is a half youkai (demon) and half human. He is the pair of Banri. He has a cheerful personality and usually wears Bunny ears. He is particularly fond of Soushi and tenderly calls him "Sou-tan". Zange has red hair. Under his bandage on his forehead, he has a third eye which he uncovers in his youkai form. He is usually seen wearing a black suit and black gloves in his human form. In his youkai form, he has eyes all over his arms and an eye in each palm of his hand. Manga spoilers He died of anemia. -Second arc- 23 years later He is 21 years old. In this timeline, Natsume is now Kagerou's SS agent. He is still childhood friends with both Kagerou and Soushi. Just like the others, Natsume has all of his memories and persona of his past life due to his youkai abilities in being able to see all. This time around he is very active in the story by helping recruit the main cast while investigating over the raid 23 years ago with Soushi, secretly. He works together with Renshou, Kagerou, Karuta, and Nobara to stop the next raid, and this time without anyone dying. He still has anemia, though. Very impulsive and outspoken, he labels himself as a "delinquent" and he is also the childhood friend of Karuta, Kagerou, Natsume and Soushi. He hates Soushi and considers him his rival since their childhood because Soushi called him "cute" and he never forgave him. He is in love with Karuta and is easily scared by Kagerou. Manga spoilers He is someone who does things for other people, as mentioned by his Jiiya (old butler who had taken care of him since he was very young and always makes his lunch). He decided to become a deliquent after a young Karuta decided to lock her feelings far away because her friends got scared of her yokai form. During that time she confessed that she envied Watanuki because his yokai form was cute. He died in the demon raid. It is highly implied that he might have been the last to die due to his age in the next life. -Second arc- 23 years later He is 13 years old. In the beginning of the second arc, he was not living within the mansion until he is introduced. Both he and Soushi do not have any memories of their past selves or personas unlike the rest of the characters. In this timeline, his best friend is Inugami. In fact, Inugami is Watanuki's delinquent leader. Watanuki is no longer bullied by Natsume, Kagerou, and Soushi. Actually, Soushi and Watanuki are very good friends in this timeline unlike in their last one. It is later, in chapter 36, that Watanuki regains his memories and persona, but it was hinted that he grew suspicious of the others when he overheard the gang's conversation in chapter 32 over their past lives and current plans to stop Inugami. It was Watanuki the one who had the idea of changing the course of time in the first arc by using the power of the cherry blossom tree and send letters to the past. The letter he wrote for the time capsule in the past was addressed to Karuta, expressing his true feelings for her and stating that no matter how many times they die and reincarnate, he will always be there to protect her.
