The childlike goddesses serve Taiitsukun and reside at Mount Taikyoku with her. They are also known as Lai Lai. They can take the appearance of floating orbs and can appear when commanded. They have healed Miaka and her warriors when it was necessary, also offering to fix Nuriko's perversion (much to his dismay) and Taiitsukun's face (much to her annoyance). Their other function is to serve as vessels for the spirits of the dead Celestial Warriors, so that they can fight along side their priestess, in which case they take on the appearance of whomever they are inhabited by, and have all of their powers.
A former senior in Ichitaka's high school, he is the main recurring villain of the manga. A sexual deviant, he tries to take advantage of Iori no less than three times throughout the manga with various schemes, but is foiled by Ichitaka every single time. After his unsuccessful first attempt he is expelled from the school, after his second attempt he becomes a drug addict on the verge of insanity, and plays a major role in the manga's final story arc. "Marionette King" is his Internet handle, and his real name is never mentioned in the manga (although in the Is Pure OVA, his real name is finally mentioned - Samejima).
Although her name does not begin with an "I", the "Ai" from "Aiko" represents an "i" sound in Japanese, indirectly marking her as an "i." She is Gemini, quite ditzy, scatterbrained, and is prone to losing or misplacing her possessions, but is also very nice, kind, and unbelievably cheerful, even in bad situations. She also has an uncanny resemblance to Iori Yoshizuki, save for a mole under her left eye. Her close resemblance to Iori causes Seto some complications when she is introduced three-quarters of the way through the manga. She, as well as Seto, fall in love with one another at a later point after they meet. Asou realizes this is a potential problem for Seto and decides to move away in order to keep Seto's and Iori's love intact. One of the series' running gags is the odd similarities between the women who get in the way of Ichitaka being with Iori. Not only do they all have I names (or AI in the case of Aiko Asou), but they all appear very similar in appearance. Izumi looks like Iori when she has long hair and like Itsuki when she has cut it short. Aiko also looks like Iori but this time more of a near perfect double with the exception of a mole on her cheek.
Platoon captain of the 1121th squad. Tank commander. She is open-minded and tolerant, and she is a good older sister/mother figure to her unit members. She is usually gentle, but she can become strict at a moment's notice. Her former troop was killed on the battlefield. She was the only one left alive.
Kanata's senior trumpeter who gives her guidance. Her field is correspondence. She speaks in a strong-minded and curt manner, but she has a kind disposition. 17 years old. In episode 10, it is revealed she is actually a Helvetian princess and Iliya's half-sister.
Nami is a classmate of Ichitaka, Iori, Teratani, and others, and is generally the mood-maker of the group whenever they are all together on a trip, school project, etc. She is very energetic and cheerful and loves to express herself, though her tomboyish and carefree attitude can make others feel awkward at times. She comes from a very rich family, as it is evident halfway through the manga when the group comes over to her house to organize a group project. Some interpret her as a female pervert, since she has tried to get people to sleep together and has shown off her body numerous times.

Ruka is talented at drawing, having drawn the doujinshi Nagi and Chiharu were selling at the doujinshi convention under the pen name, Fly Dolphin. She is also a popular idol, being able to sing and dance at the same time, and has many fans. Ruka has a determined and hardworking personality, shown when she insisted on returning for work despite her injuries, and when she told Chiharu that she would take care of her own bad luck. According to Chiharu, Ruka has a similar past to Hayate, having been abandoned with a large amount of debt, namely, 150,281,000 yen. She aspires to be a professional mangaka. Ruka's pen name, Fly Dolphin, was originally the name of the performance office her parents used to own. In chapter 382 of the manga she realizes that she is in love with Hayate and kisses him. In 383 she confesses to Hayate. She ends up being rejected by him, because he is working as a butler for Nagi, thus Ruka challenges Nagi who will sell more copies of their doujinshi. A sum the height of Hayate's debt will be the prize. Nagi won the duel of doujinshi. Because literally Ruka still had one doujinshi left of 100 copies. But it looks like that she did it on purpose because she saw no intention in Hayate eyes for quitting as Nagi's butler. This is hinted from the manga. Certain panels tell that she gained 20 thousand yen from doujinshi selling. The price of doujinshi was 200 yen per item so she could have sold all of them
