She has an easy-going attitude, and spends most of her time with her eyes nearly closed, a trait shared with Mitsune Konno, a character from Akamatsu's previous work, Love Hina. She's very friendly and outgoing, but not very smart: she's one of the Baka Rangers (a name given to the five worst students in Negi's class), Baka Pink. A minor character in the beginning of the series, Makie's role is slightly expanded on later on in the manga, where she finds herself having a small crush on Negi later in the series (mainly more so in her finding him cute than an actual crush). Despite her constant being around her teacher, though, she is unaware that he's a mage. In the Negima!? anime series her character is quite different. Although still cheerful and kind, she's now a form of comic relief; she's often made fun of and mocked by her roommate Ayaka. Despite this, though, the two get along somewhat well, sharing a dorm together even.

She and Asuna seem to hate each other, with the two often getting into fights, but it eventually becomes clear that they merely have an odd, but surprisingly close friendship that neither is willing to admit to. She is the girl most overtly fond of Negi, though she stands by the position that she is only interested in Negi because he "needs a mother figure". Though she is highly intelligent, she can often be clueless in relation to the events surrounding her. Xin is one of Kingdom's main characters. He grew up like a slave together with his best friend and fellow orphan, Hy�, in a small village, but the two always dreamed of leaving their social class by becoming the wolds greatest generals. Not much is known of Shin's family or past. Xin has a temper, but he also has a good heart. He is clearly loyal to his friends since he vows to not stop until Hyou's is fully avenged-even at the risk of his own death. His hot temper also makes him clash with Ten and they tend to bicker like siblings constantly! Xin's swordsmanship skills are very good due to his constant training over 1000 times with Hy�, but he also has monstrous strength and is very agile. In the fight with Jo Kan, it seems that Shin also has the ability to adapt very quickly in order to get the upper hand in battles. Xin dream is to become the world's greatest general, so that his name will be known even in the heavens. He shared this dream with Piao and now sets out to fulfill it for both of them.
Mana is the most popular (and most beautiful) guy in school. He meets Yuiko when they accidentally run in to each other and gets blood on his shirt from Yuiko's chapped lips. Mana has a wide interest in hair and cosmetics due to the fact his family runs a home beauty salon. He has golden blonde hair and green eyes which almost mistakes him to be a foreigner.
