He is later charged from prison and go with Toriko and Komatsu to the Gourmet Piramid to find and capture the "Mellow Cola". He uses sound-based techniques and is the strongest of the Four Heavenly Kings. He hates when someone gets cocky or lies to him. He has promised to Komatsu that he will never kill any living being just because they irritate him.
A young woman preparing to take high school entrance exams at the beginning of the story. Tired out, she falls asleep in the snow one day and is discovered by Kai, who she immediately becomes close to when he decides to tutor her. They fall in love, but Kai stands her up after promising to meet her after she gets her exam results. The same day as she is stood up, she meets Takami, who she congratulates on also passing. They are classmates from then on, and Takami develops a great deal of affection for her since she was the only one to congratulate him for passing. One day she follows Takami and discovers him visiting Kai's grave. Takami is forced to explain that he is Kai's younger brother, and Kai, fatally ill, had asked him to take care of Atsuki if he should die. The revelation puts some distance between them, but Atsuki and Takami come to terms with their own feelings and confess their mutual love.
A young man who finds Atsuki sleeping in the snow one day, tired out from preparing for high school entrance exams. Despite his illness keeping him from attending school, Kai is quite intelligent and resolves to tutor Atsuki, growing closer to her in the process. He promises to meet her at the school the day Atsuki finds out the exam results, but never shows up. Atsuki learns later that Kai's illness was more serious than he let on, and his absence was only due to his untimely death. Beforehand, he asked Takami, his younger brother, to take care of Atsuki if the worst should happen.

The prototype for Signal made by Otoi-sensei and Masanobu. Originally he was seen with silver hair and a grey styled outfit. He was a very kind and gentle robot but then one day Masanobu made some changes, upgrading him into a highly skilled combat robot. His look then changed to black long hair and dark clothes with two massive blades connected to his arms. It also appears that he conducts electricity through his hair and then charges that power through his eyes like a laser. These changes were not entirely for the best. Now he seems to be VERY nearsighted and if he should happen to use the laser or get too worn down he passes out. He has what appears to be robotic narcolepsy. He and Signal constantly fight and tease each other, but Pulse seems to have a soft spot for Chibi Signal and often talks with him. It also appears he was/is friends with Kris.
