She was destined to die by the second Kamui, the only thing that was left to fate was whether Kamui was going to kill her or Fuuma. However, since Kamui decides that the only thing he wants is to protect her (and thus indirectly saying he will join the Seals to protect humanity so that Kotori won't die), the person that finally kills her is Fuuma. The way she dies in the manga and in the XTV series varies a little. In the manga, she dies by being stabbed in the chest with a sword but her body ends up being dismembered when the wires that kept her tied to the cross slice her body to pieces (manga only). In the manga Kamui keeps her severed head and buries it. In the TV series, her body isn't chopped to pieces and Kamui buries her entire body. However, since Kotori began to obtain special seer abilities little before she dies, she opens a sort of psyquic link with Kakyou even after her sudden death. She remembers with horror the day her mother died as she gave birth to the first shinken (sacred sword); when she sees the same thing happen to Tokiko Magami, she loses her mind, able to communicate rationally only in the dreamscape. Before she reawakens she is killed by Fuuma as he becomes the Dark Kamui. Hinoto, however, tells Kamui that she was destined to die—that whichever boy became a Dragon of Earth would have killed her. In spirit form she stays with the Dragon of Earth dreamseer Kakyou Kuzuki for a time, encouraging and thanking him, and telling him that the future has not been determined yet. In the movie, Kotori dies when the second Sacred Sword is removed from her body. When Fuuma first attempts to do it, entering the dreamscape with such a purpose, Kotori actually escapes with Kamui's help and reaches Hinoto's room where he's waiting, but ultimately Fuuma catches her and pulls the Sacred Sword out of his sister's belly with his bare hands, killing her much to Kamui and everyone else's horror (Arashi, Sorata and Hinoto are also there). Shiratori's debut was in the first movie, The Clockwork Skyscraper, acting as a member of Megure's police force. At first, Shiratori only appeared in movie roles, playing key roles in the first three Detective Conan movies. At some point, Shiratori later became a full-fledged inspector. As a child, Shiratori studied diligently to one day become a lawyer, and had even memorized some laws by heart. One day, he witnessed a young girl confronting two juveniles trying to steal mangas from a bookstore. To thank him for helping her out, the girl bought him a drink and made a sakura petal pattern from the straw wrapper, saying the sakura was the symbol of courage for the Japanese police (due to the distinct form of the Japanese police badge). It was because of this incident that Shiratori decided to become a cop rather than a lawyer. Shiratori later joined the Tokyo Metropolian Police Department and worked alongside Inspector Megure, often acting as an extra officer or pair of eyes, though he later became an inspector of his own. When Satou Miwako joined the department, Shiratori believed that he had found his childhood love again, and as a result both he and his younger colleague Takagi considered each other rivals for Satou's affections. Shiratori would often try to show off in front of Takagi by asking Satou on a date, but she always rejected him, much to his dismay. However, he has since come to date Kobayashi Sumiko, whom he finally discovered to be his true love. As a cop, Shiratori is fairly average. He is calmer on the case than Takagi or Satou. Shiratori, like Satou and Takagi, believes that Conan has a lot of intelligence for a boy his age, but unlike Takagi and Satou, he usually tends to care not much for Conan's opinion. He often feels that Conan gets in the way, though Conan always proves otherwise. However, unlike Kogorou, Shiratori will take notice and suspect something if Conan points something quite interesting. Shiratori's attitude can appear cocky when battling for Satou's affections, but otherwise he appears more modest, as in the first Detective Conan movies or when he is with is now girlfriend Kobayashi Sensei.

Carson was originally apart of a group of smugglers who stole large amount of Vizorium (or Visorium). Kei and Yuri layed a trap for them which led to a small shootout. Carson deserted the group and escaped. Carson comes across Kei and Yuri again on planet Agerna.

She is fiercely loyal to Takasugi, and appears to have a crush on him. She also gets angry and tells off Nizou after he goes on a rampage throughout Edo, trying to kill Takasugi's old comrades. She is quick-tempered and prone to screeching when she's upset. This is evident when she has a "spitting fight" with Kagura after she spat at her and when she starts yelling at Kagura after her underwear is said to be stained. She shoots Kagura through the shoulder when Kagura breaks onto the ship. She interacts the most with Takechi, calling him 'senpai' and also calling him a 'pervert' and a 'lolicon' for sparing Kagura instead of killing her. At the end of the Benizakura arc, she is wounded by Okada after he loses control. Her name is roughly based on a samurai of the Bakumatsu era, Kijima Matabei.
