Nation's name: Koninkrijk België, Royaume de Belgique (Kingdom of Belgium) Capital: Brussels Language: Dutch and French Birthday: Unknown National flower: Red Poppy Height: Unknown Age: Unknown Belgium is the cheerful sister of the Netherlands and Luxembourg. She has green eyes and wavy shoulder-length blonde hair, but in other pieces of official artwork, she has been shown with light brown hair. She had a non-speaking appearance in the first episode of the anime adaptation and in a special unaired episode titled “The Diary of the Awesome Me, Part 2.” At one point in time, Belgium lived with her brother, the Netherlands, and Romano (then Chibiromano) in Spain’s house. Her relationship with her brother seemed to have gone bad at this time. When he declared independence from Spain, Belgium fought against him and stayed with Spain. The Netherlands tried making up with her afterwards by forming one country with her, but things did not work out and the two remained separate countries. It is also said that their great differences in their personalities was what played a big part in pushing them away from each other. Belgium is mature and friendly compared to the Netherlands, who is cool and tough. To this day, it is noticeable that their relationship is still on the rocks and somewhat awkward. Romano, as a child, had a big crush on Belgium, who was much older than him. He was shy and unable to express his feelings towards her or kiss her when she told him to, something that Belgium only told him to do because she felt bad for him. She is described as being kind, mature, good-natured, diligent, and friendly, but gets pushed around by her siblings a lot and is somewhat meddlesome, like the type of person who sticks their nose in other people’s business. It is also said that she’s crazy for gourmet food and delicious snacks. Apparently, she’s very frightening when mad. She has a pretty face and noticeable features, but according to her character profile in volume 3 of the manga, “Although her features stand out, her clothes are simple and not very conspicuous.” Some people often forget about her and do not notice her because she is overshadowed by the other countries around her. Belgium is also described as a “tsukkomi" (straight man), and is noted to speak in a Shiga dialect. Although her official human name has not been decided, Hidekaz Himaruya revealed in a blog post that he has considered “Anri,” “Emma,” “Laura,” and “Manon” as possible names. Since this decision has not been made final, fans often render her name as “Alice” in reference to “Alice in Wonderland.”
Nation's name: Republica Română (Republic of Romania) Capital: Bucharest Language: Romanian Birthday: 1 December National flower: Dog Rose Height: Unknown Age: Unknown A new character added in 2011, Romania is depicted as a seemingly mischievous young man. He made his debut in volume four of the manga. In a recent colored drawing by Hidekaz Himaruya, he was shown having light reddish-brown hair and reddish eyes. It was said that he and Hungary do not get along one bit, so much to the point where Hungary uses the names of famous Romanians to name her dogs. In response, most of the jokes native to Romania include Hungarians (much like the "Polack" jokes or the "In Soviet Russia..." jokes that most are familiar with). According to his character profile by Hidekaz Himaruya, he has a "businesslike" relationship with Italy and Germany, and has recently tried becoming friends with Turkey. In terms of personality, he is sly, eccentric, and somewhat careless, but very friendly. He is said to be able to perform black magic, much like England, and has a strong belief in the supernatural and occult, as well as folklore. However, he also has his romantic side, dreaming about fairy tales with princesses and the like. He is shown possessing fangs, most likely a reference to folklore stating that vampires come from Transylvania, which is located in Romania. Whether or not he is actually a vampire himself is currently unknown at this time. It was also shown that his left ear is pierced. It is unknown as to whether or not his right ear is pierced as well.
Nation's name: 臺 (Taiwan) | Republic of China Capital: Taipei Language: Mandarin Birthday: October 25th National flower: Plum Blossom Height: 150cm (4'9") Age: Unknown Taiwan, also called the Republic of China, is a strong-willed and fashionable qipao clad teenage girl. She has long brown hair with a curly ahoge sticking out on one side. She has yet to appear in the anime adaptation, but she made her speaking debut in the eighth Hetalia character CD, which focused on China. As shown in a sketch, she seems to possibly dislike China and may possibly favor Japan. In this sketch, she called China a "bastard" and told him to back off of Japan. In the eighth character CD, in which she had her speaking debut, she called China "sensei" and spoke in a friendly manner with him, leaving whether or not she is really on bad terms with him in mystery. It is speculated by fans that she was raised by China, and that China, Japan, Korea, and Hong Kong are like siblings to her. Her personality is rather cheerful, though she is shown to have a smart-mouth and a short temper. She is also said to be somewhat of a nervous type of person, unable to stop worrying. Although her official human name has not been decided, Hidekaz Himaruya revealed in a blog post that he has considered "Lin Yi Ling" and "Xiao Mei" as possible names, but since the decision has not been made final, fans often render her name as "Mei" (meaning "plum blossom" in Chinese), "Meimei" (meaning "little sister" in Chinese), "Tai-chan" (derived from Taiwan), "Wanwan" (also derived from Taiwan), and "Wan-chan" (also derived from Taiwan).
Nation's name: Principality of Wy Capital: Wy Language: English Birthday: November 15th National flower: N/A Height: Unknown Age: Unknown (but is recognized as being around the same age as Sealand) Wy is a micronation in Australia founded in 2004. Hidekaz Himaruya added her to the cast in 2010. She is a young girl with long brown hair and gold eyes, who possesses bushy eyebrows, similar to England’s. It was noted that Australia is like a big brother to her, and she treats him as such. However, she is still mad at him because she hasn’t gotten her driveway yet. Another Australian micronation, Hutt River, was said to be her mentor. It was pointed out that she doesn’t really understand him, but looks up to him anyway. Supposedly, she is mouthy and tries acting mature, but is childish from time to time. She is usually seen carrying around a large paintbrush, said to be artistically gifted. Proud of the fact that she is officially recognized as being “independent,” she runs around freely, participating in fun activities and enjoying her freedom. Prince Paul of Wy posted a painting that he made of Wy using Hidekaz Himaruya’s character design for her on his blog. Sealand was also depicted in the picture, and it was confirmed that Prince Paul was notified of her existence beforehand.

Nation's name: Kongeriket Norge (Kingdom of Norway) Capital: Oslo Language: Norwegian Birthday: May 17 National flower: Heath One of the Nordic countries, and seemingly one of the most enigmatic characters in the series. His hair is pale blonde, and he possesses dull, soulless dark blue eyes (similar to Japan's) as well as a curly ahoge that floats independently beside his head (sometimes accompanied by a small dot). This was said by Hidekaz Himaruya to be because Norway is a "whimsical" type of character, thus the reason why the hair curl is floating and unattached to his head. He has a younger brother named Iceland whom he's quite close with. It was confirmed by a DNA test that the two are in fact blood brothers, but even so, Iceland refuses to call Norway "Onii-chan" (Big Brother). Norway's self-proclaimed best friend is Denmark, whom he has known since they were children. Denmark seems to be terribly dense, for he does not realize that Norway doesn't consider them to be close in the slightest. Often times, you can find Norway picking on Denmark, but he's too oblivious to notice. His personality is rather mysterious, and he doesn't talk much or show emotion. He's apparently very shy around strangers, and is somewhat of a recluse. According to Iceland's pet puffin, Mr. Puffin, he's surprisingly snarky. Like England, he is able to interact with and see supernatural creatures. It is because of this that you can sometimes see a little fairy or troll by his side. Also to note is that he speaks in a Tsugaru dialect, and is often seen sporting a barrette shaped like a Nordic Cross on the left side of his head. Although his official human name has not been decided, Hidekaz Himaruya revealed in a blog post that he has considered "Bjørn," "Børre," "Kjetil," "Knut," "Lukas," and "Sigurd" as possible first names with the possible surnames "Bondevik" and "Thomassen."
