Forrest is Brock's younger brother and the second oldest child of Flint and Lola. When Brock returned from Johto to find the gym taken over by his mother and her water pokemon, Brock decided to have Forrest run the gym in his place. Helping Forrest out is Brock's prized pokemon Onix. Forrest was able to raise Onix very well that it ended up evolving into a Steelix.

Flint first appeared in Showdown in Pewter City. Ash and Misty met Flint, who was selling rocks as souvenirs. Ash bragged about his goal to become a Pokémon Master, but Flint told Ash that thinking he could defeat Brock, the Pewter City gym leader was foolish. After the match, which Ash lost, Flint brought him home and talked with Ash about Brock. Flint took him to Brock's house and revealed that Brock had nine younger siblings that he constantly had to take care of, because his father left to become a Pokémon Trainer. He never returned, as did his mother. Flint decided to help Ash in his gym battle and hooked Pikachu to a hydro-electric dam to increase its strength. After the gym battle, Flint showed up and revealed himself to be Brock's father. He had failed to become a successful Pokémon Trainer and couldn't face Brock and his siblings. As Brock wanted to travel with Ash, he left the Gym Leader position and the duty of being head of the family to Flint. Flint met Brock again in A Family That Battles Together, Stays Together! when he returned to Pewter City after traveling through Kanto, Johto, and the Orange Archipelago. Brock scolded Flint for not taking care of the Gym. An embarrassed Flint explained that that he had just got the Gym set up the way he liked it when Brock's mother returned. Flint took Brock back to the Gym, which had been redecorated. Flint closed it because he couldn't stand it anymore. Lola and Flint had a rematch for the title of Gym Leader, which he lost. Fortunately, Brock was able to beat his mother. Flint and Lola then agreed to change the Gym to specialize in a combination of Water-types and Rock-types. Kusaka differs from his clan believing in peace and opening Japan up to foreigners where it can do trade and stand with equal footing on the world stage, the Open the Country movement. While trying to stop other Choushou clan members from setting fire to the British Embassy, Kusaka is confronted by a Bakufu (Shogunate) samurai who helps he and a comrade, Aizawa, escape from the authorities. Years later,he meets him again and starts to develop feelings for Akizuki,who is teaching him English. Kusaka has a gentle characher like Akizuki and maybe more optimistic than him because while Akizuki wants to live in a different age,where people would tolerate them,Kusaka thinks everything will change if they wait patiently.

Lola (Japanese: ミズホ Mizuho) is a Water-type Pokémon specialist. She is the mother of Brock, Forrest, and eight other children. She is married to Flint. For a very short time, she was the Gym Leader of the Pewter City Gym, known officially as the Pewter Gym, and she gave out the Boulder Badge to challengers who defeated her. Lola is married to Flint and has ten children. Flint left one day to become a professional Pokémon Trainer and never returned. Some time after that, Lola herself wandered away to train Pokémon, leaving Brock in charge of his many siblings. One of Lola's many hobbies is decorating. In the Chronicles episode A Family That Battles Together, Stays Together, Brock returned to Pewter City after traveling through Kanto, Johto, and the Orange Archipelago and found that Flint was shirking his Gym Leader duties. Flint explained that the Gym was ruined because Lola had returned. Lola had totally redecorated the inside and outside of the Gym, planting a series of trees and bushes outside. She also filled the inside of the Gym with water, and decorated it with streamers and pink hearts and stars. Flint ended up closing the Gym because he couldn't stand it anymore. Brock returned home to find his mother cheerfully redecorating the house. Lola gushed over her own work and showed off her Water-type Pokémon and said that they were much better than Rock-types. Brock demanded to know how Flint could let this happen, and Flint explained that he just couldn't say no to his wife. Lola and Flint had a rematch for the title of Gym Leader. Flint was sure he would lose due to type disadvantage, but Brock pressured him into the battle anyway. Flint's Pokémon almost ended up drowning in the match and had to be resuscitated. Flint was almost ready to run away again, but after some flirting, Lola and Flint ended up being lovey-dovey with each other and the two agreed to change the Gym to specialize in both Rock and Water-types (to their children's dismay). Not ready to give up, Brock decided to battle his own mother to keep the Gym the way it was, and he came out victorious. Lola said she would give up trying to change the Gym's type, but Flint managed to pursuade Brock to let Lola keep the decorations, even though she was supposed to take them down if she lost. Brock passed on the title of Gym Leader, along with most of his Pokémon, to his eldest brother, Forrest. Lola also made a short appearance in Grating Spaces!, where she went to a trip with her husband and Brock's Ludicolo, leaving their children alone at home. Raoul Contesta (Japanese: コンテスタ Contesta) is a character in the Pokémon anime. He is a Pokémon Contest judge. Contesta is the main contest judge, and also the Pokémon Contest director. He is usually the first one to comment on the Pokémon, and the one who offers advice to the Coordinators. When May kept forcing her Bulbasaur to continue battling in Cruisin' for a Losin', Contesta yelled at her for not knowing when to stop the battle, and criticized her for not caring about her Pokémon. Red spiked hair wearing a black battle suit with red and black cape he is thought to be one of the most powerful Pokemon trainers in the world. His specialty is dragons and those who challenge him are unlikely to succeed, his favorite Pokemon is Dragonite which has little experience in losing a battle. Challenging him is futile!

He is an artisan who lives in Rifure Village and makes Gym Badges. Kinso appeared in The Blue Badge of Courage. When Misty, Tracey, and Sakura came to his cabin to get new Cascade Badges, they found him with an injured ankle. After administering first aid, they had to get some exercise, make the badges and participate in a Pokémon battle to earn the Gym Badges. After Misty's Psyduck screwed everything up due to its inability to swim, Kinso refused to give them the gym badges. After noticing two boys with a Zigzagoon and Poochyena stole the badges he worked on, including the badges Misty, Tracey, and Sakura made, they helped Kinso get the badges back. In the end, after witnessing Misty's Psyduck defeat the thieves' Pokémon, Kinso decided to give Misty the badges.
