Once he heard a voices from far away calling for help. He went to search for the source of that voices and ended up in Natsume's town. He met humans and found that interacting with them was fun and started to live as one.

Sasafune is a mermaid that appeared in episode 8 when Takashi went to an inn with his male friends to study. She knew Chizu Sakanaka, the owner of the inn, when Chizu was small. She thought that Chizu had used her to get her mermaid blood, which is said to give immortality to the one who drinks it.

He came from a wealthy family, yet he was frail. He often sat by a tree and read. He was found by a youkai, named Miya. They both spoke together since then. As the seasons went by, he did not came one day. He was in a painting that Miya often carried with her while traveling. She stated that he always wanted to be and travel with her.
