This character was created for the anime. Usually referred to as Takano-sensei, he is a world famous photographer known also as the "great master". Takano, who also happens to have quite a few connections with the Kingdom of Sphere, was the only person approved by Feena's father to document her studies on Earth, just as he had done with her mother and grandmother. He also has the unique ability to pop up out of almost anywhere without being noticed, which makes getting the photographs he needs quite easy. Takano has an assistant that follows him around, helping him develop photos or to function as a quick getaway.
Exclusive to the anime, Andropov is a member of General Logi's Independent Flying Squadron. He is the most intelligent of the group and the youngest member overall. He serves as the reconnaissance of the group. When General Logi announced his secession from Gran Kingdom, Andropov attacked some Gran Kingdom airships. Near the end of the first series, he starts to develop a crush on Kluke (even though he never told her at that time) after he used his shadow's ability to capture her for General Logi to interrogate. When it came to fight against Zola, he and Schneider fight two giant shadow monsters. Andropov fell unconscious as Schneider sacrifices his life to destroy them. Two years later, Andropov was shown recouperating from some medical condition in Kluke's care. When a Rosekstan airship appears in the village they are living in, Andropov defends Kluke the best he could until Shu and the Bouquet/Blue Dragon repel it. He and Kluke join up with Shu to help Rosekstan fight the White Brigade. Andropov later helps out in the fight against Rudolph. Andropov's shadow is Alubujem, a four-armed crystalline creature who helps Andropov with his reconnaissance by launching out the crystals required for it. Alubujem can also launch an endless stream of crystal shards for an attack. Alubujem can also reassemble if shattered and its pieces can be manipulated by Andropov one time when he trapped Kluke.

The male lead character, Kazuki, is a second year student from an elite magic school, Aoi Academy, with serious social problems, and because he has a low spell count of only eight spells, most of the other students, especially the girls, would not notice him until his magical heritage is revealed. Overall, Kazuki is a good person and helps others by using his magic, even when that means that he runs the risk of turning into ash. His selflessness and kindness eventually wins over the hearts of Rin and Kuriko. He is at times indecisive and uncourageous, but he prevalently shows his honest nature and his sense of doing the right thing. It should be noted that in the anime, Kazuki is able to keep his harem while in the manga, Kazuki actually chooses Yuna over Rin and Kuriko.
A ex-Ecoban Member, who wanted to show Jay the blue sky..., but was left for dead when him and Jay were beaten for going into a forbidden place, Cade stabbed the beater with his own knife and kicked Shua off a building making him take the blame and leaving him for dead. Now he works for Dr. Noah as a spy/terrorist to take down Ecoban to allow the world to see the blue sky.
A girl who is a Ecoban, she wanted to see the sky with Shua but after Shua's death she fell in love with Cade. She fights her feelings through the movie.
