Mizuno's twin sister. She is part of Glittering Crux Brigade & she's under "Banishing Age" division led by Head. "Manticore" is her title in the Crux. She joined the Glittering Crux Brigade to protect her twin sister You Mizuno. In truth, she is Mizuno "creation" as she exists to cope with Mizuno loneliness that was abandoned by her mother.

The complexity of the information was so vast that even a great mind like his couldn't understand it all. Sometime after she was created, both Melfina and the Outlaw Star were stolen from the Kei pirates by the outlaw Hilda who intended to use them to find the Galactic Leyline. Melfina's appearance is of a petite and slender young woman with shoulder length black hair and large brown eyes. While her physical age appears to be 17, her real age is that of only 2. She has no recollection of her past or why she was created, which very often troubles her throughout the series.

Gilliam II is the AI (artificial intelligence) of the XPG 15A-2 "Outlaw Star." Gilliam is in charge of maintaining and reporting the status of the XGP as well as performing various calculations related to space travel. When in zero gravity, Gilliam can use numerous miniature maintenance robots (normally blue, but colored pink by Jim) to perform repairs to the XGP, but cannot move large objects under gravity and is restricted to welding and soldering. In addition to being the AI to the most advanced ship in the galaxy, Gilliam itself is also highly advanced. Gilliam possess a personality, something other AIs in the Outlaw Star universe do not have. Gilliam's occasional dry wit and sarcasm annoys Gene Starwind to no end. Gilliam will often express concern over distraught crew members or remind them of their various upkeep chores. Though Gilliam is polite and humble in all aspects, it will not hesitate to boast about how advanced the XGP is when the topic arises or when the XGP is compared to another ship.
