She's very friendly and outgoing, but not very smart: she's one of the Baka Rangers (a name given to the five worst students in Negi's class), Baka Pink. A minor character in the beginning of the series, Makie's role is slightly expanded on later on in the manga, where she finds herself having a small crush on Negi later in the series (mainly more so in her finding him cute than an actual crush). Despite her constant being around her teacher, though, she is unaware that he's a mage. In the Negima!? anime series her character is quite different. Although still cheerful and kind, she's now a form of comic relief; she's often made fun of and mocked by her roommate Ayaka. Despite this, though, the two get along somewhat well, sharing a dorm together even.

She is the girl most overtly fond of Negi, though she stands by the position that she is only interested in Negi because he "needs a mother figure". Though she is highly intelligent, she can often be clueless in relation to the events surrounding her. Hana Arai is the second main lead and deuteragonist of Hana to Alice: Satsujin Jiken. Alice ends up trespassing into Hana's house as she seemed to be part of the key to solving this "Juda" mystery. Hana is a far more observant and thought-out person to counteract Alice's propensity to jump into any situation without much thought, at the mercy of her own whimsical nature. This isn't to say that Hana herself isn't a whimsical person; she very much is, she just keeps herself in check most of the time. Where Alice is comparatively idealistic and childish, Hana is more than a tinge jaded, cynical and a tad bitter. Hana expresses most of her cynicism through deadpan humour; she is a deadpan snarker. As it turns out, Hana dropped a bee down Juda's shirt on a whim because she felt irritated with him, which ended up stinging him and giving him an anaphylactic attack. This event ironically scarred Hana more than Juda, as she isolates herself to her house for most of the time after said event. It's likely because of this experience that Hana decided to keep her whimsical nature in check and think things out a lot more thoroughly before doing them; she contents herself with sticking at the sidelines and observing things before making a move; she represses herself. It's through her interaction with Alice that she starts to rediscover a lot of her whimsical nature comes to light again. Alice pushes Hana forward again by forcing her to interact with Juda, as opposed to running away from her problems (i.e. Juda). Hana's relationship with Alice allows her to grow as a person and confront the things she was previously unable to face head-on; she gives Hana the strength that she can't summon on her own. Mariemaia Khushrenada is the daughter of Treize Khushrenada, the Duke of OZ and Leia Barton, daughter of Dekim Barton and sister of the real Trowa Barton, conceived during the meeting between the two on Colony X-18999 (as detailed in the Episode Zero manga). Supposedly dying at an early age, Mariemaia later resurfaced as the figurehead of the Mariemaia Army, which largely consisted of soldiers who had been loyal to Treize. Thanks to her grandfather Dekim's grooming, she was fully prepared to ravage the Earth and take her place as the World Sovereign, believing this to be what her father, Treize, would have wanted. If Operation Meteor went as planned, the young girl would be ruler of Earth, as stated by her uncle, though, in fact, she would be a puppet ruler as seen by her grandfather. Mariemaia kidnapped Vice-Foreign Minister Relena Darlian so there would be no opposition to the Barton family's rule over the Earth. The occupation of Earth was quick with no resistance and victory seemed assured, that is until a number of insurgents, including the Gundam pilots fought back. Mariemaia felt that their efforts would soon be exhausted, until the populace stands up and Wing Zero destroys the shelter. Dekim urges her to take up her rightful place as ruler of Earth but Relena slaps sense into her, literally. She then saves Darlian's life when her grandfather tried to kill her. Thus, his name literally means "wrong-correct," and is frequently represented by "XO". Badtz-Maru has many different facial expressions and poses, but he is classically recognized for pulling one eye down and sticking out his tongue, a gesture akin to sticking out one's tongue.
