Hotaru (ホタル) is the granddaughter of the former leader of the Tsuchigumo clan, En no GyÅ�ja. One day Hotaru was under attack by a group of ninja who were actually after Utakata. Utakata saved Hotaru from the ninja, but was wounded in the battle. Hotaru ran for help from her fort, saving Utakata's life, causing him to become indebted to her. After this, he became a sort of master to Hotaru in order to hide from anyone who is after him. Later she finds him sleeping under a tree and Utakata got angry when Hotaru called him master, saying that the relationship between a master and a student is not something you can count on. Utakata reluctantly begins to teach her the Water Walking Exercise first, believing that she wouldn't master it. In the morning, she shows that she was able to stand on top of the water by training all night. Next, Utakata taught her Water Release: Violent Water Wave, once again believing that she would not be able to master it without water-natured chakra only to discover she does possess water-natured chakra. She later found Utakata under a tree and showed him the she again mastered the technique much to his suprise. When a group ninja came looking for the Tsuchigumo clan's kinjutsu, Tonbee had Hotaru, along with Utakata, take the clan's forbidden jutsu so that ninja could not retrieve it. While traveling, Utakata got upset at Hotaru for calling him master (å¸«åŒ , shishÅ�), at which point Naruto arrived, believing Utakata to be attacking Hotaru. Hotaru broke up the fight and Utakata left her, deciding that Team 7 would be capable in protect her. As she watched him float away in a bubble, she tried to convince him not to leave, but was unsuccessful in doing so. While on the way to the clan's secret village, Naruto argues with her only for Yamato to devise a plan to convince Hotaru to accept their protection. Using his unique jutsu, Sai drew mountain leeches to fall on Hotaru, who freaks out and becomes afraid, causing her to accept Team 7's protection. When they reached the village, Team 7 leaves Hotaru with the Tsuchigumo clan and Hotaru thanks Naruto before he leaves. Gozu (牛é ) is a shinobi who appeared in the second Naruto ShippÅ«den filler arc. He is a subordinate of Guren He is unsociable and quiet, making people unable to figure out what he is thinking, but his battle skills are without a doubt very dexterous. He relies on taijutsu and brute strength and preferred fighting alone. He holds a special sentiment towards Guren and was her most loyal subordinate, even stating "I will accompany you no matter where you go". The reason for this was that Guren saved his life while he was imprisoned by Orochimaru, giving him water when he was dying of thirst.
Nurari (濡羅�) was a shinobi who appeared in the second Naruto Shippūden filler arc. Nurari enjoyed toying with his foes and constantly mocked them. He also was shown to be a bit of a drag queen when he whimpered feminine shrieks or moans whenever he was in danger. Another example was when Rinji, and later Kabuto, gave him a mocking stare, to which he remarked was rude.
Yaoki (屋沖, Yaoki) is a ninja from Sunagakure and a subordinate of Gaara along with his partner Korobi. He is shown to be cowardly and wimpy around Gaara, due to him formally be a murderous maniac. When Konoha and Suna started to get along again, Yaoki was assigned on a team with Gaara to take out a group of bandits located between Suna and Konoha, which Team 7 was also assigned to. When Gaara was captured by an assassination squad from their village, Gaara tells them to leave because the squad after only him. Naruto runs into Yaoki and Korobi, seeing Gaara is not with them and asking them why they abandoned their friend. The two both wonder if Gaara is their friend. Yaoki and Korobi both assisted Naruto in Gaara's rescue and they tell him they're his friends. Korobi is a ninja from Sunagakure and a subordinate of Gaara, along with Yaoki. Korobi was assigned on a mission along with Yaoki and Gaara to stop a group of bandits that were located between Suna and Konoha which Team 7 were also assigned to. He was shown to be cowardly and wimpy when Gaara due to Gaara's killing impulses which he got rid of after Suna's invasion. When Gaara was caught in a trap by Suna's assassination squad, he told Korobi and Yaoki to get away. Naruto runs into them, learning that Gaara was captured and asks them why they abandoned their friend. Korobi and Yaoki both wondered if Gaara is their friend. Korobi and Yaoki both assisted Naruto in rescuing Gaara. After their mission was finished, Gaara asks Korobi and Yaoki what they said to him and they happily say they're his friends. Furofoki is a Konoha medical ninja examining Jofuku flower in Jofuku Forest on the mountain of the same name. When queried by Naruto about her decision to live and work all alone on the mountain, she told him that's what she decided and it wasn't his business. She has a great understanding of the flowers and seems to have gathered quite a few of them, indicating that she may have either fought off the flowers' defenses or discovered a way to safely harvest them, either one being testament to her ability. Tanishi (タニシ, Tanishi) is a boy from the Genjutsu Tree Village. Kandachi, a missing-nin from Amegakure, attacks and takes over the village, and kills Tanishi's father, Sukune, in the process. Tanishi is at first scared, but Naruto changes him and helps him in their plan to take back the village. In the end they grieve the death of his father Sukune who gave his life for the village. He was in the battle between Naruto and Kandachi, and he helped by taking the villagers to a safe location. Before meeting Naruto, Tanishi didn't seem to believe in himself, but this changes after Kandachi is defeated.
