Akakabuto is the alpha-male in the Ou-mountains. Five years ago he got his right eye shot by the hunter Takeda Gohei. This incident ruined his nerve system and he could no longer go in to hibernation. The damage did not only drive Akakabuto mad, it also made him grow stronger and bigger than any other bear, since the bullet in the brain was stimulating his growth. Soon, Akakabuto began building his stronghold and completely took over the mountain pass, Futago. He then started gathering all the strong bears in the area under his leadership to fight off the army of dogs. (source: Gingasite.net)
Daisuke's grandfather Takeda Gohei is a hunter and very talented in training bear dogs. He has trained both Shiro and Riki, and during the beginning of the series, Gin. Five years ago he was out hunting with Gin's grandfather Shiro. They were attacked by the bear Akakabuto who ripped off Gohei's left ear. In return, Gohei shot out the bear’s right eye. Even though Gohei is a skilled hunter, he loses Shiro because of the monster bear and after a few years Riki.
Birthday: April 24 Height: 165 cm Weight: 46 kg Chest: 77 cm Blood type: A Specialty: Super High-school Level Photographer VA: Yuu Kobayashi Koizumi is an optimistic and sensible girl who is generally rather calm. She might come off as a little rude; but in fact, she's a girl that's not afraid to state her mind. She comes off as very confident, but in fact has self esteem issues, comparing her photographs to those of her mother, a famous war photographer. Her mother was away from home most of her life taking pictures out of the country, but her father was a very poor parent, and she had to take over most of the housework, so she has a generally higher expectation of men, but she doesn't dislike them. Koizumi wants to help as many people as she can, however, if you're being impolite, then she won't hesitate to either scold you or let you suffer consequences. Koizumi hates people who lack manners, but it is never said that she hates men. She at first thought of her title of photographer as stupid compared to everyone else's. She is killed by Peko in Chapter 2, after being hit with a baseball bat in the head.
Height: 160 cm Weight: 46 kg Chest: 88 cm Blood Type: O Birthday: March 14 Zodiac Sign: Pisces Specialty: Super High-school Level Gamer Nanami normally has a dazed expression which gives her a sleepy demeanor, but she concentrates hard when she plays games. She often helps Hajime Hinata during school trials and provides important points. Nanami can also be stern when she tells people to do things and becomes a lot more lively when discussing games. She enjoys any kind of video game, even if she thinks they're terrible - with the exception of dating sims, the only genre she is bad at. Major Spoiler Nanami is actually revealed to be an AI created by Alter Ego to be a mole for the Future Foundation. She is the culprit of Chapter 5, where she is tricked into accidentally killing Komaeda. Her being an AI is actually hinted at early on during the story. Her personal quirks such as her superhuman ability to concentrate and analyse, ability to sleep while standing, her lack of knowledge about the outside world and her long pauses before speaking. During the events of Chapter 6, she fuses with Hinata and they break Junko's arguments.
Height: 172 cm Weight: 64 kg Blood Type: A Birthday: June 29 Zodiac Sign: Cancer Specialty: Super High-school Level Mechanic Souda is a highly emotional character, though he tries to play it smooth. People tend to note his scary appearance does not match his compulsive and rather timid personality. Souda seems to be a very bad liar, leading him to be contradictory at times; such as when Nidai reveals they had tied Komaeda up, or when trying to get into the all-girls beach party. Souda has a tendency to neglect his need for a verbal filter, and blurts things he thinks out, such as when he was contemplating whether he liked Sonia's wetsuit or not. Souda is normally trying to repair any broken items on the island with his ability and familiarity with mechanisms. He also has a great fear of dying on the island, which causes a lot of stress and panic for him. He tends to carry around a spanner/wrench. He is a very jumpy person, and tends to exaggerate his reactions. Souda is also seen to have taken a liking to Sonia, to an extent of being almost like a pervert and in constant jealously with Tanaka. Souda's life before despair seemed to been fairly tougher than a normal child's. It is noted that he and his father ran his family's bike shop, but nothing was ever sold. The bike shop wasn't always inactive, however-- many customers would ask for them to fix their bike tires or inflate them. Despite this, the family was still often low on money. In result, though, Souda got plenty of practice with making and building things. As a child, Souda was very skittish, and easily picked on. He let other children step all over him, but before he entered Hope's Peak, he changed his appearance entirely. From changing his hair color, to losing his glasses, and assumedly sharpening his teeth, so that he could fit in better with people around him. It seems as if it'd do the opposite, but that may just be how his mind works. At this point, he began to put up the "Tough punk" facade to avoid more bullying, which, to this day, continues to break almost constantly. In addition to Souda's rough childhood, with money and bullying problems, his Dad seems to have constantly beat him. In one of his free time events, he states that he had never been on a field trip, and spoke quite casually about his father beating him when he didn't attend school on those days. This confuses Hinata, but Souda doesn't seem to register the severity of it. Such behavior suggests that he was a subject of excessive abuse. Souda is one of the few people who survived at the end.
Zelda/Zeruda is Claymore No. 24 of Clare's generation. She is part of Undine's team in the Northern Campaign, along with Deneve (No. 15), Claudia (No. 36) and Juliana (No. 43). She was present when Undine's team joined Flora's team to attack the Yoki manipulating Awakened Being. She was one of the few who avoided its tentacles and attacked its head together with Lily. They were unable to injure it however it did have to leap away to escape their attacks. She seemed surprised when the Awakened Being was unable to force Clare and Deneve to surpass their limits. Zelda survived the battle against Isley's forces through the battle with Rigardo, managing to keep from being defeated even with the loss of the captains, one of the final six Claymores still active at that time. She was part of the last stand against Isley's remaining Awakened Beings along with Clare, Helen, Deneve, Miria and Cynthia. Tabitha and Yuma were unconscious at the time. She was killed by an Awakened Being at this point, making her the only Claymore to die in the Northern Campaign after the death of Rigardo.
Wolfgang Mittermeyer is a rear admiral serving in Reinhard’s fleet and, along with Oskar von Reuenthal, Reinhard’s ablest field commander. Mittermeyer is a commoner, born to a middle-class family. He first met Reuenthal while stationed in fortress Iserlohn, early in his career, and the two became close friends. Kind and caring, Mittermeyer has been a stabilizing factor for Reuenthal’s self-destructive tendencies ever since. A family man at heart Mittermeyer soon married his childhood sweetheart Evangeline and became a dedicated husband, but their efforts to have children have been fruitless thus far. Unfortunately for him, his lowly pedigree was about to cause him serious trouble. Mittermeyer ordered the execution of one of his subordinates for assaulting, robbing and murdering a civilian woman. Although his decision was just, he turned out to belong to a powerful noble family and Mittermeyer was soon arrested. While the nobles plotted his death, desperate to save his only friend Reuenthal met with Reinhard von Müsel (later Lohengramm) and offered his and Mittermeyer’s loyalty to him, in exchange for aid in saving Mittermeyer from the nobility and clearing his name. Reinhard, who had his own well-known issues with the nobles, readily accepted and both of them were transferred under his command. Nicknamed “the gale wolf”, Mittermeyer is renowned for his boldness in warfare, his lightning responses to changing factors in the battlefield, as well as his ability to cover huge distances in a relatively short time, while keeping his fleet organized from his flagship Beowulf. Under Reinhard's command, he receives the flagship Beowulf. Mittermeyer is an able strategist and a brilliant tactician, one of the very best of his era. He is composed, just with his subordinates and fiercely loyal to Reinhard, not only for saving his life, but also because he honestly respects his abilities.
