Kino is the lead character in the story and is described as being around 15 years old with short black hair, large eyes and a fearless face. Kino usually wears a black jacket, brown overcoat, white shirt, goggled cap and wide belt with lots of pouches—using special gear depending on the weather or season as necessary. Kino travels with the motorrad, Hermes. The two have a contract—Kino provides the balance, Hermes provides the speed, and together they can travel anywhere they wish. Kino is an excellent marksman with deadly speed and accuracy, and is typically armed with two large-caliber pistols. On the journeys with Hermes, they both try and stay neutral to the situations they come across and avoid getting into other people's business. It is revealed in episode 4 of the anime and the final chapter of volume 1 of the light novel series that Kino is a female. Her name "Kino" is actually the name of the traveler who saved her as a child and caused her to take to her current lifestyle. Her actual birth name is left unstated throughout both the show and LN but there are implications in the anime that it is "Sakura."
A Mandalorian bounty hunter and a clone of Jango Fett. Unlike his genetic clone trooper brothers, Boba was raised as a son by Jango. After the rise of the Empire, Boba frequently took missions from the Imperials, and even worked alongside Darth Vader on some occasions. He later brought the carbonite forzen Han Solo to Jabba, and was presumed dead for some time after falling into the mouth of the Sarlacc. He eventually became the Mandalore and led the Mandalorians through the Yuuzhan Vong war.
Aerith Gainsborough is a character from the Final Fantasy VII series who is portrayed as kind and gentle, eager to help her friends to the best of her ability. She is typically seen wearing a pink ribbon in her hair, a pink dress with short brown coat, and brown boots. In the game Crisis Core, she wears a white sleeveless dress. She is also one of Cloud's potential love interests. She was previously dating and in love with Zack Fair. She is first introduced as a flower girl, and she briefly converses with Cloud Strife, a mercenary who is fleeing from the bombing of a Mako reactor by himself and AVALANCHE. The two later meet at the church in the Sector 5 slums, when he falls down from the plate and through the roof of the church. Later, when faced with the possibility of being captured by the Turks, the two join forces to escape. As he reminds her of Zack Fair, she asks him to be her bodyguard in return for one date. She is eventually captured by Shinra and taken to the science lab, however Cloud and friends infiltrate the building and save her. She then joins them in the pursuit of Sephiroth, while embarking on a journey of self-discovery as well. After a failed attempt to foil Sephiroths theft of the Black Materia, she ventures alone into the Forgotten City for as yet unknown reasons. Cloud and his companions follow after her, eventually finding her praying at an altar. As she looks up to smile at Cloud, however, Sephiroth appears and kills her by impaling her through the torso. The materia given to her by her mother, which she wore in her hair, falls from the altar into the water and was lost. After fighting an incarnation of Jenova, Cloud carries her body out into a lake in the Forgotten City, and releases her back to the Planet. The party later learns the reason for her being in the Forgotten City; through her mothers materia, now known as the 'White Materia', she was able to summon Holy, the ultimate White Magic, and the only force capable of repelling the ultimate Black Magic, Meteor. Even though she successfully managed to cast Holy before her death, it was held back by the sheer force of Sephiroths will. When he was finally defeated and Holy was released, it appears that it was too late to function as effectively as it should, for Meteor - already summoned by Sephiroth and set on a collision course with the Planet - had come too near the Planet's surface. While Holy clashes with Meteor, attempting to prevent its impact, the gravity of both Meteor and Holy pulling on the spell in opposite directions weakens it, leaving it with too little room to take effect. The Lifestream then flows forth from within the planet, intervening with Holy and Meteor, and acting as a battering ram while aiding in the destruction of Meteor. This scene is followed by a vision of Aerith within the Lifestreams energy. She later makes several appearances in the CGI film, Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. As Cloud's spiritual guide, she urges him to move on in life, to forgive himself for the tragedies that were beyond his control and to tell him that she never blamed him for her death. During several flashes, she speaks to Cloud in an open meadow laden with flowers, cheerfully and kindheartedly poking fun at how he needlessly burdens himself with the past, but also acknowledging his suffering and offering kind words of support. Towards the end of the movie, somehow she causes it to rain, the water curing the victims of the Geostigma when they come into contact with it. Due to his habit of always arriving late to school, skipping classes during the day, and staying out all night, he has been labeled as a delinquent, or a young person who defies authority. As he progresses through high school, he meets many new friends, such as Kyou, Ryou, Tomoyo, Fuko, and of course Nagisa. He has a knack for solving the problems of his friends, and seems to care for all of them deeply. He is also seemingly unaware that some of the girls at school show interest in him. The major story in Clannad is about Tomoya learning about the point of having family and friends. He also has alternate timeline counterparts that end up with Tomoyo and Kyou respectively in the anime. Ever since his mother, Atsuko, died in a car accident when he was young, Tomoya has been living with his father, Naoyuki Okazaki, with whom he argues constantly. Tomoya was injured during a fight with his father three years ago; since then, their relationship has been very distant. Tomoya later marries Nagisa, where they soon have a child, Ushio, together. But upon giving birth, Nagisa dies soon after. Having felt he has lost everything, Tomoya leaves his daughter Ushio to live with Akio and Sanae for the next five years, where he constantly works and wastes money to forget the pain of losing Nagisa. When Ushio turns five years old, Tomoya reluctantly takes her on a trip with him, where they quickly bond and he asks Ushio to stay with him. Ushio contracts the same illness as Nagisa, and, grief stricken, Tomoya quits his job to take care of her. She begs to go on a trip with him, and he agrees. As they walk towards the train station in the snow, Ushio collapses and dies in her father's arms. Tomoya, crying for Nagisa to help him, collapses soon after, and awakens to a world where Nagisa and Ushio survive. It is later found out that Tomoya had used the orbs of light to grant his wish of his wife and daughter surviving. The three live together happily as a family.
