When several Plasma Grunts found their way into the refuge, Ash and his friends battled against the Grunts, and managed to subdue them. After this, N joined his foster sisters, and disappeared into the mist. When the mist faded, N, Anthea, and Helena were gone, and Ash and his friends found themselves on a wide field, where they saw the Dragonspiral Tower, towering a little distance away. Maria Alucard gets some focus in a brief arc in season two, where a short flashback shows her as an aristocrat in an early-century France, watching her family burn at the stake. She seems to be living her life in secrecy; not hunting, but being hunted. Maria reveals towards the end of the anime that she had hated humans, and wanted to do them harm. But the conflict seemed to have caused a change of heart, and she now professes to Inugami that she wants to protect her students, having come to accept their affection.
