As the son of the chieftain Attichitcuk, Chewbacca fought against the CIS on Kashyyyk during the Clone wars, and helped Jedi Master Yoda escape from Order 66. Due to the Wookies aiding the Jedi, the now Imperial forces retaliated against Kashyyyk, forcing Chewbacca to leave the planet. He was later saved from Imperial and Trandoshan slavers by the Imperial lieutenant Han Solo, whom he stayed with ever since.
